Imagine Jet Li and Jackie Chan in the same movie. yeah. exactly.
I got this movie not knowing who acted in it other than the fact that it scored quite high on IMDB and that it was a kung fu flick, thats it.
I was more than pleasantly surprised, I watched it with my father and my son and the 3 of us were in hysterics half the time and the rest of the time in awe with the fight choreography.
Li's grace, Chan's comedic stunts, this movie is a winner.
It revolves around a young American boy, fascinated with Kung Fu movies, who finds himself transported off to China to return a magical fighting staff to it's rightful owner and along the way, teams up with a drunken Kung Fu master (Chan) and a monk on a secret mission (Li) and together they fight off armies of soldiers and a handful of immortal warriors. Both Chan and Li have additional cameo roles in the movie as different characters.
All I can say that its a seriously kick ass movie that everyone should be able to enjoy. The fight scenes are amazing and the sets are magnificent.
I was under the impression that Li had decided to stop making movies and I remember thinking at the time that it would have been cool to see him and Chan in the same movie and my wish was granted.
