The benchmarks under Windows are giving Firefox some serious competition though so I reckon I may try it on my Windows box to see how it performs.

When it comes to browser compatibility, IE is always the most important to companies, then they will do firefox on windows. If there's time and resources they will do Opera and Safari and a Linux browser.
