I would like to know if anyone has tried to setup internet connection sharing between a Vista and an XP machine?
Basically in my situation, my laptop, running Vista Business would be the server and the XP desktop would be the client.
The main reason I want to see if I can get this running is so that I can D/L AV, Windows and Steam updates through my data contract as opposed to using my cellphone.
Any one tried?
Any suggestions?
I am gonna give it a bash next week to see what I can do.

I don't see why it wouldn't work. From what I can remember when sharing a connection on windows, it would set the IP of the computer that is dialing up to 192.168.0.1, so as long as you set the client pc's default gateway to 192.168.0.1 you should be fine.

I think the problem I am having is the software that i use to connect to the internet.
I have a Vodacom Data bundle and have been using their bundled software.
I will play a bit more next week after I've had a chance to study up on ICS in Vista.

IF you go into properties on your dial up connection it should give you an option of enabling Internet connection sharing. Well ti does on XP cos that's how i've got it setup at home

Yeah, I just read something about needing to Authenticate the Server/host and the connecting client(s) in Vista.
That might explain why I was struggling this morning.
Basically you share the connection, and designate which machine is which and then you're done.
