16 candles is that brat pack movie from the 80s with Anthony Michael Hall. Of those brat pack movies, I would have to say that The Breakfast Club is my favourite. Judd Nelson played his role pretty well. Some would argue that Saint Elmo's Fire is the ultimate brat pack movie, and to a degree, I agree, but I just like how The Breakfast Club was presented, although, had it been like 30 minutes longer, it might not have been as good, considering that we are seeing a bunch of kids locked up in school on a Saturday.
My all-time favourite movies would be the Lord Of The Rings trilogy. Who wouldn't want a friend as loyal as Samwise? And just apart from that, the movies have a LOT of heart. "For Frodo" is one of the most touching moments in movies for moi.
The Godfather is sheer brilliance. I don't think that there will be a mafia movie that will ever rival it. I pray that they will never remake such a masterpiece.
The Star Wars movies are also amongst my favourites, with episodes 4, 5 and 6 being the better trilogy.
The Shawshank Redemption is another favourite. You gotta love the symbolism in his escape when Andy has to literally crawl through shit in order to reach freedom.
Yeah, WAY Too many good movies that have left their mark on me along the way. I could go on, and on, and on.
Incidentally, a friend and I were also taking about having movie marathon weekends from time to time. Would actually be great... but I have also discovered Poker since then, so I dunno how eager I would be to partake in the MM weekends.
