The news story of the past week has been the racist video produced by a group of University of Free-State students that that depicts white students duping black cleaners into eating food that had been urinated on.

A video of University of the Free State (UFS) employees on their knees eating meat which had been urinated on was condemned "in the strongest possible terms" by the university on Tuesday.
The video, made by the Reitz men's residence, surfaced on Tuesday morning and follows riots by the students at the campus last week over the university's hostel integration policy.
"The Executive Management (EM) of the UFS condemns this video in the strongest possible terms as a gross violation of the human dignity of the workers involved," the university said in a statement published on its website.
Democratic Alliance spokesperson in the province Liana Van Wyk, who had seen the video, described it as "shocking and inhumane".
The video depicts four white male students taking four black, elderly, female workers and making them down a bottle of beer, run a race, play rugby and then kneel and eat meat which had been urinated on, she said.
"It looked like they were willing [participants] but they didn't know the purpose the video served... it was quite humiliating at the end to see the quite senior ladies on their knees eating the meat."

The only thing wrong with what happened there was the urine, if it was in fact urine.
The short clips of the video that I saw on the news depicted smiling ladies passing a rugby ball. The photos I saw in the newspaper had smiling ladies drinking beer.
There was no way they could have been forced to do it, so they 100% did whatever they did willingly. What is the issue?
Yes, it is a bit strange seeing older people doing such strange things, but again, they did it willingly.
Whatever they were given to eat probably had some nasty stuff in it, urine or not, so its understandable that it would taste bad.

Whether there was urine involved or not, which I doubt, the idiot who's idea it was, and the idiot who made the video should be shot, for fucking up "the peace"
The reason why it is pretty bad, is mainly because of the media sensationalism.
IF it was indeed just meant as a joke though, I pity the fools who made the DVD, because their heads are gonna be on the chopping block for this, just because of the outcries from the world.
They showed parts of the clip on Carte Blanche last night, and the aunties did not have guns pointed at their heads when they did the goofy stuff.
SOME of the stuff said my the okes who made the clip could be construed as racist (forgive my swiss cheese brain syndrome, as I cannot remember most of the shit they said).
One thing that was said that I did not see as being racist was that, as you know, quotas need to be met for the hostel/university. The white okes just said that they wanted to be able to select the black dudes who would move into the hostel, as they would prefer to have black dudes around who can speak Afrikaans, and are into Rugby. I don't see anything wrong with wanting to have people living with you who share the same interests.
Is it wrong when you go to the canteen at work you see seperate groups of White, Coloured, Indian and Black people sitting around?
