Hi guys,

One of the exec managrs here has been playing with Vista and is now the moer in with the I.T. Dept.

Some 3rd party vendor picthed up and installed an application that was never intended for Vista.

As a result the program doesn't work, but, it also will not uninstall from the machine.

We've had this vendor back countless times but they never wrote the app for Vista and the registry keys we've removed (as per their advice) haven't helped.
They say that they can't help.

Does anyone know how we can remove this app from the Add/Remove apps list, this is where the guy keeps hunting for this app.

Many thanks.

What kind of program is it?

Uhm, when I have had to remove stuff from the add/remove list (in xp and 2003) i just search the registry for the name that appears in the add/remove list, and delete all traces of it from the registry. Might work in vista as well.
Paul
forthose not used to regedit or are afraid to dig into the registry, use the tool I posted above.

Yeah. Poking around in a client's registry is high risk. The chance of making a screw-up is acceptable for your own home PC, but an exec manager is bound to crap his pants if you screw up his pc further.

I'll try the app, thanks Paul.

We were given registry keys from the vendor and deleted them, unfortunately this made no difference. We then deleted the folder from the program files directory.

We can't re-install the app to try uninstalling again because the installer picks up traces of the old program and bombs the install.

This is so feking frustrating.

jking... best bet if you know what you doing is manually open up regedit and searching for any traces of that program name and deleting the reg keys you find... BUT first make sure you backup ALL reg keys in the app.
also what version vista your boss running?

Paul

Does that program support vista tho?
