So one fine day, i open up Windows Media Player 11 and then amn confronted with the error message stating that my library corrupted.

So the thing is that my music is still their and nothing has happened to it - just that my WMP 11 libray is completely empty. I have clikced monitor folders - but still nothing is turning up.

I can run songs in WMP by clicking on them in explorer and WMP 11 launches up and plays them.

Okay i'm on Vista and anyone got me a help on how to get them back intro the library.

For the record all i have "lost" is my playlists and nothing more
RustPuppet
Yay, let's rush out and buy Vista before the first service pack! Woohoo!

Use Winamp or iTunes and save yourself from the atrocity that is WMP.
Mr. Magic Matrix
Wow thats helpfull Rusty [sarcasm]

Try this - copy all of your music files to your usb stick and then unplug it. Delete your entire library.

Then copy eveyrthing back to your PC. Then run the monmitor search and it should pick it up

My advice was not to use a shitty player on a a shitty OS. Pretty solid help if you ask me.

All I remember was Fishy losing his music because of some Vista stuff-up, thus I'm steering clear. Besides, the aforementioned players do everything that WMP does and more so why use something that's giving hassles?

Use Winamp

Amen!

Okay,

fact is I need WMP 11 to sync in my MP3 Player (i use an iRiver H10) and uptill now i've had no problems with it. And this is just a minor issue at any fornt.

Dunno about Win-Amp but i'e found iTiunes to be one the most irritating and non-intuitive programs for this job. Just my opinion.

Judge not, lets yee be judged Rusty.

Just like you call me a Microsoft Fan Boy, your the antithesis of it - A Vista Hater who has likely never properly used it.

I have BTW used Macs before and iTunes for a long time after that (until i got fed up and binned my ipod Mini). My opinion is based on firsthand experience.

RustPuppet
Who said you should use a Mac? This is not a discussion about OSX vs. Vista.

Fact is you are a Vista fanboy. Sorry, but I've never seen such blind loyalty for such a POS OS.

And how do you know I've not used Vista properly? I think the great irony here is that it's YOU who hasn't used it properly: it looks pretty so it must be better, right?

Right, to prevent further off-topic I've created this discussion.

Blind Loyalty! Hah!

I was veyr skeptical of it when i bought it with my machine and yes it takes time ot get used to. But i'm happy with it on the whole and thus i use it.

Back on topic: Problem fixed, i popped in my Vista DVD and repaired WMP. Things are sorted.

Oh go to hell already, what a hypocrite - you are quick to attack my assumption and yet you are doing the same thing. My favorite operating system atm is still Windows 98 SE - secure, stable and one hell of a nice thing to work with.

I only move to XP because most things would not work well with it. And with XP - security, speed stability was all a huge issue.

Then came the holy Service Pack.Of which VISTA HAS NOT HAD YET.

oh and btw: if it looks better i must be a Mac User. They look better - but i don't like them because they aren't my style of usage. I'm entitled to my opinion.
RustPuppet
Dude, what are you on about? Win 98? I thought we were talking about Vista here?

And no one's being a hypocrite here. You pointed at me saying I haven't tested it properly and then lashed back when I called you on it. Thus explains your lengthy defense.

Regardless, the problem has been solved so can we please continue the discussion in the aforementioned thread?
