I was considering the Samsung U700 but I've heard way too many bad things about it. I saw a co-worker's one today and after two months it looks like it's two years old.
Some more choices here (shaddap Paul) but nothing else really grabs me there.

Contracts are cheap. Phone choice is generally crap across all service providers at the moment though.

there's a reason the contracts are cheap. to match the service... from what I have heard that is...

Could be true. R150 airtime and unlimited txts for R150 p/m is a pretty sweet deal though.
Ideally I'd like a higher-end Nokia but there's not much choice on that package. I could always stick with Cell C and get a E65 or N70 but then it's extra cash for an SMS bundle and such.

um.... Cell C has got to be the worst provider I have been with. Good idea to move away from them.

Funnily enough I've never had a single problem with them. When my phone was stolen a couple years ago they even bumped up my upgrade by a few months. (Granted they wanted to keep my business but they were still very helpful.)
Anyone have any experience with HTC phones? Apparently the S710 is wicked.

I don't have any experience with them myself, but I have friends with them and they like them. so I would imagine that pretty decent. I was also thinking of getting some kind of HTC.
Where does it say free? Cause I have unlimited sms' to any SA network (and UK, AUS, US, French Etc...) forever too. They just not free.

Well, seeing as the entire campaign is called 'Unlimited SMS'...
Also, if you read the T&Cs on their site it clearly states you can send as many as you want for free to any network. The only exception is that they'll cut your balls off if you use it for bulk advertising messages or something of that nature.

I was too lazy to read the T&C's. Thanks.

Always good to read before you sign your life away for two years
Think I'll go for the HTC, every review I've read has been favourable thus far.

as am I... surely I can keep my same number too. Do all the sms' go through though? I have heard bad stuff about Virgin, and don't just want to move and then regret it...

Me too, thus the interest in this package.
I don't want any of those phones though so I may just renew my Cell C contract with the SMS bundle.

Right, my two new choices are between the HTC (mentioned above) and the LG Viewty.
The HTC is surprisingly more expensive but the Viewty is fuck-off sexy: wicked display, tons of features and the closest thing to an iPhone at the moment.
Opinions?

Well if your like me and dont need a new phone right now and can upgrade... heres a link to the autopage Retention lists... seem a lil cheaper than new contracts and the deals being offered in most cell phone shops... also if you dont need a phone other options are available (like a Road Angel )
