Alienware plans to sell humungous wraparound DLP rear-projection monitors to gamers, sporting 2880x900 screen resolutions and a surprisingly modest footprint.

The device is in prototype form and won't be available until late 2008 at the earliest: the sample on display at Pepcom was a little washed-out, with overlap between projection areas causing odd vertical bars to appear on-screen. That said, it was still a stunning example of balls-out gamer extravagance.

This monster will probably be unaffordable to for the average gamer but if it ends up working properly we can always hope that other manufacturers will start making clones.

Probably be crap for movies though but image your FOV in games.

I think that's the first AlienWare product I would buy. I actually think the opposite regarding its usefulness - I wouldn't use it for games but rather dedicated to movies wink.gif
