Author Pratchett has Alzheimer's

Author Terry Pratchett is suffering from a rare form of early Alzheimer's disease, it has been revealed.

In a letter published on the website of artist Paul Kidby, the writer said the condition was behind a "phantom stroke" he had earlier this year.

Pratchett said his statement should be interpreted as "I am not dead" and that he had taken the news "philosophically" and "possibly with a mild optimism".

The Discworld author, 59, has sold more than 55 million books worldwide.

Bugger.

I sincerely hope he keeps writing for as long as possible, but hopefully he gives it up before things start going pear-shaped i.e. think 'Madonna.'

Man that sucks. He's only 59, he should have had another 20 years of being able to write. At least he's taking it stoically and in good humour.

Dammit the man is one of my all time favourite authors. Yea I agree I hope he keeps writing a while but stops on a high note. I am busy reading his latest creation, Making Money, at the moment.
