Okay, for a change of pace

Cloning of humans, animals whatever. ATM its illegal, so do you think that the benifits of cloning, having a source of body parts for transplants etc. outweigh the ethical concerns

Whats your point of view
russell
What ethical concerns tongue.gif

I don't see it as an issue at all
RenegadeNukes
Examples could be:

> Are clones real people, we don't allow organ harvesting of real people. Why clones etc.
> Rights?
> How to tell the difference and if everyone cloned we would have a serious loss of biodiversity

Not my point of view, as i am undecided. But some stuff i have heard over time
Surge
If cloning is done in order to grow organs, I am fine with that, but cloning people and animals, no.

But we know that somewhere, in some dark, hidden lab, a mad scientist is already doing that. ph34r.gif
RenegadeNukes
Probably so
Kaless
Why not allow us to clone body parts eg. a arm, leg, heart, liver, kidney. As soon as you clone a complete body, you ran into the ethical barrier.
My answer: Just to replace lost limbs or organs that is about to fail and then just the limb or organ in question nothing else.

Im with kales

Right, I really have to work on typing more verbose responses instead of just assuming people would understand me when I go for my minimalist style.

Nukes, I wasn't actually asking for an example of ethical concerns, I was representing that I don't see it as an issue at all. Even whole body cloning on the condition that the clone is as devoid of thought as the common farm animal. Kept at that level, it's meat that can be used beneficially. If it's got an intelligence level to match mine (which is below average if anyone was wondering) then I would have an issue with it.

Why not whole body cloning guys, why just parts of bodies?
Carrots
Whole animals, sure.
Human body parts, organs, etc, sure.

Humans with thought, no thanks. Complete human bodies, but without thought.... now thats just creepy, and I dont know enough about the subject to really have an opinion other than that.

What would be GREAT, is cloning just parts of animals. For example headless brainless chickens, that way treehuggers and vegans can STFU!

Is there really a difference between a full-body clone without a brain and a someone who is brain dead?
I stand by my earlier statement.
Organ cloning if done from the person's (in need of a organ) own body should reduce the chance of organ rejection to just about nothing as the organ is cloned from the body's own cells.
russell
I don't understand this. You are against full body cloning even if it has no higher brain function, but I bet you will all happily eat meat from an animal which would be as intelligent or more so than what I propose.
Kaless
The only cloned meat I would consider eating is of farm animals & they don't match us in intelligence.
russell
Neither will the brain dead meat sacks I am proposing...
Kaless
And the brain dead human?
russell
They were once intelligent, they weren't bred to be used like that, the meat sacks would be. For me the intent behind the existence of non-thinking biological matter determines what's acceptable or not.

You sure about that revq. You are imho one of the best posters on this site. I wouldn't have thought ypou to be below average at all?

Where do you live, university for the gifted mebbe tongue.gif - hence the average
