So Roger and Pistol Pete have been playing some exhibition tennis matches. Naturally Roger has won both matches so far, but Pete has put up a bit of a challenge. Todays game went to two tie-break sets. smile.gif

I think it is pretty kewl that they doing it, even though it isn't as competitive as it could be, it is still fun to watch these 2 greats at it. smile.gif king.gif

Not bad biggrin.gif
Would love to watch one, but alas, no time for sport TV right now :'(

How old is old Sampy now?
cyfermaster
he is now 36.
RenegadeNukes
And still kicking!

Not at his former best, but still shows that he is still a great.

The fed express is a cert to overtake sampy's record and join him as a great

Matches have been good to watch so faR
CyberStorm
The Fed is my current favourite player - But Sampras is my all-time favourite!
Would have loved to see these two go at it with both in their prime.

roger beat pete, when roger wasn't in his prime... wimbeldon 2001. ON GRASS NOGAL!

If he stays fit and injury free....
CyberStorm
Ya but Pete was in the twilight stages of his career. In 2001 his powers were fading and he wasn't as all conquering like the mid and late 90's.

If memory serves Pete hasn't played top-flight tennis since 2002.
cyfermaster
Your memory serves you correct. The last top flight tennis match he played was against Andre Agassi in the Final of the US Open, which Sampras won.
CyberStorm
Pistol beat beat the Fed in the final game of the series. Not bad for a 36 yr old! :-)

R Fed takes the series 2-1...
cyfermaster
Yeah he won it, but a few things to remember.

Fed was not serving at his normal pace. He was holding back. Fed was playing in a watch, he never plays in a watch. wink.gif That said, Pete did play well and it was really good to see them at it. Somehow I just think that Fed "let" him win it...

Really? I didn't watch any of the games so I wasn't aware of this. What speed does he normally serve at and what were his speeds against Sampras?

Yeah I considered that....but no the Fed would never do that! unsure.gif

I'm choosing to believe that Sampras beat the Fed fair and square.... :-)
cyfermaster
I can't remember the speeds, but when the commentator says "He is definately holding back on his serve." then it is kinda obvious. tongue.gif You could see the pace of his serves were not as quick. It was nice though. Was good fun to watch.
RenegadeNukes
Yep,

FedEX wasn't at his best game, butr i reckon he let Sampras win for the sake of it.

Don't see anything wrong with that
