ok so my telkom line started giving me hassles last night.

I called telkom's fault reporting number at 11 pm last night.

they answered on the first ring.

I was amazed.

reported my fault, they told me that I would be contacted by someone latest tuesday (which I gladly accepted seeing as this is what we are used to)

12:25 today (13 hours later more or less)

I get a call from a technician asking me my address, I gave it to him, within 5 minutes he was at my place and 10 minutes later my line was fixed.

I am fucking confused.

why are they trying to pull the wool over my eyes???

Service standards have to increase... they do have competition now after all.

The only thing that could explain this is some kind of Telkom error.

They must have accidentally logged the incident and prioritised it by mistake.

ok I take back anything good I said about them.

FUCKING IDIOTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The problem returned I called them they sent a guy who replced my line, problem was still there, router wasnt synching, tried a different router

same shit

I have spent over 3 hours on hold to speak to them over the last 4 days

I am lucky if I get 4 minutes of uninterrupted internet.

Whats pathetic is that when you use the report an incident tool on their site, you get a response telling you to call the toll free number.

JESUS CHRIST!!! why do they even have it there?

Why have an online fault reporting tool if all they do is reply and tell you to call the toll free number

which is expensive from a cell phone but you have no choice seeing that YOUR LINE IS DOWN!!!

god I fucking hate hate hate hate telkom motherfucking shit cunt bastards sons of bitches!

that blows. My line has had issues twice in the last month, but they were sorted out really quickly. in fact the last time I delayed them. They phoned me but I couldn't get here to let them in, so told them to come another time. *stupid I thought* but they called me 2 days later again, I couldn't get here so had to reschedule. Thought I was really pushing my luck here. And then they came on the day I said would be good for me. Problem was sorted out quickly too once they were here.

I am however more used to the service you are now getting. sad.gif

I had an issue with my land line at home - a LOT of noise, which occurred after a major storm happened sometime ago.

After NUMEROUS calls to the Telkom fault reporting line, and them sending some yahoo out, the problem still persisted.

At the end of the day, I phone the head office, and complained, and I have to say, after being in contact with the HEAD OFFICE, things went smoother. A technician was sent over to the house the next day, and this guy was good, because he traced the problem to a telephone pol like 3 houses up from mine.

Needless to say, try to lay a complaint with head office, and see how it goes. Should be a LOT better than the usual faul reporting lines. Heh, I remember phoning the general FRL once. The bastard on the other side of the line said that I should put the phone down, so that he can test it, and he would call right back, but he never did. I made sure that I also reported this to the head office when I complained.

We use Megaserve (www.megaserve.net)

They are fast - they are cheap and they offer service ..

Last month, we reached our cap at app 2 in the morning (don't ask) and we called 24/7 tech support (a guy by the name of Wesley) - he answered after 5 rings - and our line was uncapped within 30 seconds.
Last week, internet was simply switched off, we called tech support, got a detailed description on WHAT was wrong (tygervalley antenna or something went out of business) and we got a detailed description on what they were currently doing to solve the problem.
He apologized 10 million times for the inconvenience caused and the line was up and running within 30 minutes ... the time they estimated for the repairs.

Unfortunately, you cannot set it up for yourself, they have to come and install a mini sized dish on your roof, but besides that, i'm glad to be a customer with them.
