Hi guys

I recently bought a new PC, and it won't ever sleep!

I've set up the power settings under "Screen Saver" on my desktop properties, but even though I've set the hard disks to turn off after 1 hour, they never do... no power saving settings work sad.gif

I really want my machine to sleep sometimes, please help.

Thanks

Check if APM (Advanced Power Management) is enabled in your BIOS?

FORMAT!

does your PSU support the functionality?

Can't really find anything that relates to advanced power settings in the BIOS. Under "Power", it mainly deals REAL power issues, such as what to do after a power failure etc.

Can't find anything under main BIOS features either.

- that doesn't mean it's not there... just that I haven't been able to find it sad.gif

Look for ACPI and APM under your power options.

From memory, there is a 4-letter acronym beginning with an 'E', but it only has the option to be enabled or disabled... and it's enabled sad.gif
