Back on topic, I use 3G/HSDPA when im travelling/out of the office and I generally dont have any problems. I always get good speeds and have reached my phones full limit (3.2Mb). I am on MTN though, which from what I can tell is much better than Vodacom which I guess is due to the fact that they dont advertise their data services as much as Vodacom do.

That said though, its still a hellish expensive internet connection and I still dont know how people can use it as their only internet connection, and then still upload loads of photos etc using it, must cost a small fortune...

I only get 1600 KB/s

Im permanently on 3G. The only time I am not on 3G is when I am raping my parent's ADSL when I am in Jeffreys Bay.

The work sponsors me a MTN e220 modem and 3G contract and then I have a Vodacom e220 with a 3G contract and bundle.

Here is a speed test for the Vodacom 3G. As you can see not too impressive. MTN has much faster downstream speeds than Vodafuck, but MTN's upload maxes out about 6kB/s. Anyway, wanted to upload a MTN speed test image but this time of night MTN's speeds seem to suck in my area. Will do it later.

Overall I am rather impressed with 3G. For one its a lot more stable, reason I say this is that I never get timeouts on IRC when I am on 3G, whereas ADSL users often do. Another cool thing is that I am hardly effected by the last day of the month Telkom "rush-the-cap".

One thing I can complain about is the R4k bill Vodacom stuck me with last month. The debit order has been stopped til they can explain to me why it is so high.
