question : what are 19" rims with low profile tyres going to set me back?
those BBS brand new would be around R12k to R18k - tyres would be around R3500 each - depending on brand
you could get 18's for around R5k and tyres for much less than what the 19's cost - my golf 5 gti replica's cost R4500 for the rims and i paid R4600 for the tyres on special at tiger wheel and tyre - that included an all road insurance as well as balancing and alignment - those are pirelli p-zero nero's - now when i went to find out replacement costs for the pirelli's tiger reckons on special they were R4600 per set - but now that the special is over they are R3145 each - bridgestone 18's are around R3500 each for the 225/40/18's as originally fitted in the GTI
as for size for rims for the golf 5 17's would look too ordinary but you would find a huge variety of those for around R7k - if you can get some 225/40/18's on special then those 18" GTI replicas with relevant tyres would make your car look like a GTI
heres what mine look like - but i guess i bought them at the right time - getting these now with my size of tyre would easily cost you around R14k now and those tyres would be too low for your car but heres a pic

Just tune your FM Radio and lo and behold it works.
those FM frequency modulators are basically useless - ive heard one which sounds like shit gone bad for a month when you are in adverse weather or areas which are high in static electricity (or during storm times) - and the frequency response is only like 40hz to 15000hz which means you miss out on the lowest octave and around half an octave of the upper registers (since the highest octave is 10000hz to 20000hz) - so id not be using those FM thingies
just get an MP3 player like alpine or pioneer or sony or kenwood and most of those will do - just gotta get all those tracks onto discs - but 120+ songs per disc will do perfectly IMHO - but with most entry level headunits you will need optional adapters to make it work with an ipod or a headunit with and aux in - the ones with a built in aux in (in rca form) can be a bit pricier then the entry level units
for a really decent quality unit id use something like this
http://www.autostyle.co.za/prodview.php?pr...ndstr=&str=with the following adapter cable
http://www.autostyle.co.za/prodview.php?pr...ndstr=&str=which would allow you to control the ipod from the headunit - and its a direct cable connection - also its an alpine which IMHO is a topshelf sounding unit - im regretting changing from alpine to a higher rated kenwood - the alpine still sounds better
