Britney Spears surrendered at a Van Nuys, California police station on Tuesday night, where she was booked on two misdemeanors.
A few weeks ago, Spears was given the opportunity to turn herself in to any California police station before her court date on the matter.
According to Los Angeles Police Department spokesman Mike Lopez, Britney Spears was fingerprinted and had her mug shot
taken for charges related to an August 6th hit-and-run. Spears was booked for the hit-and-run and for driving without a valid California license. She faces a maximum penalty of six months in jail and a $1,000 fine for each crime.
The owner of the car that Britney hit, Kim Robard-Rifkin, saw a video of the accident, which was captured by paparazzi. Kim gave Britney and her reps three days to contact her. After no response, she filed charges. To this day, she says that she's still waiting on a personal response from Britney Spears.
In the video, Britney Spears attempted to park between two cars. Kim Robard-Rifkin's car was on the left. In the process, she hit the right rear of Robard-Rifkin's vehicle, and then finally sucessfully parked between the two cars. At that point, she opened her car door to get out and hit Kim's car again with her car door. Before leaving the parking lot, she only looked at Kim Robard-Rifkin's car once - and that was in the passenger window to check herself out.
