From what I understand, the 8800GT will have performance very close to that of the 8800GTS, which will get an upgrade a bit later.
What I want is a 8900GT or whatever it will be called. The one that will come in for R3000. (lol, yeah, whatever)

I'm trying to get Graphics Card's in at the same type of pricing as I am getting the HDD's for (ie, stupidly low).
Hopefully when the new range comes out, I'll be able to get those too.
I'm looking for a 8900GTX or 8950GX myself.

oh? why the interest in Nvidia? personally I've always like the ATI's additional features but right now their cards have been lacking in the performance arena... I wonder if this x2950 will hold more significant improvement... but if AMD holds their stance then we'll only see nvidia push higher performance gpu's whilest ati bring out tweaked performance gpus

I've had both the 8800 GTX and HD 2900 (1gb model) and can honestly say, the 8800 GTX is a superior card.
I had a XFX 8800 GTX, then had a Sapphire HD 2900 XT 1gb, then back to a Point of View 8800 GTX (Which I won at rAge in the Command and Conquer 3 competition).
It rocks at high resolutions (1920 x 1200) for gaming.
Also I know the link is theinq but it's the only source out there that seems to have info, not that I believe them myself, but interesting none the less.

I want bang for buck. Which is what the 7900 series provided. The 2900XT comes close, but not yet there. The X1900 series was a bit expensive compared to the 7900 series.
I'm hoping the 8900 will give me what the 7900 did.

slick you misunderstood me, what I'm saying is ATI for DVD quality/ripping quality still far superior than the nvidia's... performance wise nvidia wins hand down.

DVD Quality as in playback? Why specificly DVD? The Geforce 8 series card when compared to the ATI's quality, looks on par, perhaps even better.
The days where ATI enjoyed a better "visual" due to quality, are long gone with the Geforce 8 series.
