I'm quite surprised we don't have a thread for this already, but anyway, on to the point smile.gif

Behold the final system requirements:

QUOTE
Crysis Final System Requirements

Updated - YouGamers visited Crytek to check out their heavily anticipated DX10-showcase title Crysis, courtesy of Electronic Arts. A full preview article on the game is coming soon, but the most important piece of news from the visit is the official word on the final system requirements for Crysis.

Crytek states that the minimum system is as follows, depending on the operating system;

Windows XP

* Intel Pentium 4 2.8Ghz (or similar AMD)
* 1024MB RAM
* a 256MB Shader Model 3.0-compatible video card
* 12GB disk space

Windows Vista

* Intel Pentium 4 3.2Ghz (or similar AMD)
* 1536MB RAM
* a 256MB Shader Model 3.0-compatible video card
* 12GB disk space

A 256MB SM3.0 card would probably translate to something like a NVIDIA GeForce 6800GT or ATI Radeon X1650 series. According to Crytek, a system meeting the minimum requirements will run the game at 800x600 using low/medium settings.

Recommended setup is;

Windows XP/Vista

* Intel Core 2 Duo E6400 or AMD Athlon X2 4400+
* 2048MB RAM
* NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS 640MB
* 12GB disk space

Windows XP, using DX9 is limited to "high" graphical settings, while Windows Vista, using DX10, can be set to "very high". According to Crytek the recommended system will run the game in high resolution at high/very high settings.

The minimum requirements are surprisingly high, lending support to the rumors that the multiplayer version (currently in NDA-bound open beta test) is chomping heavily on any hardware it comes across. The recommended setup on the other hand is pretty much what I expected. The current-generation DX10 hardware is the first take on this new technology - the features are there, but the performance is far from optimized, and you have to choose between taking full advantage of DX10, or developing for the widest possible audience. Crytek has simply chosen to develop for the latest and the greatest hardware - so you pretty much need a GeForce 8800 GTS or a Radeon HD2900 XT to run the game properly in DX10 mode.

linkage

Quite hefty requirements, but nothing exactly surprising considering the quality of the game thus far.

Ouch ouch ouch. That is pretty hefty, it better have some serious eye candy to be wanting that much
Gitano
Seriously.
Any screenies lying around?
Carrots
how about some trailers?

I expected the graphics requirements to be high, but didnt expect the CPU requirements to be quite as high.
On the tomshardware crysis thing, it said supported CPU's are Core 2 Duo, 2 Ghz and up . But that cant be right, can it? The E6300 is faster than any P4 imo.
Gitano
Thanks carrots, thats exactly what I wanted!

Looks freaking awesome, but I dunno, it just seems like another shoot em up
RustPuppet
Do yourself a favour and download the hi-res tech demo.

You will seriously upgrade your rig for this game.
Gitano
Hahaha, then I am DEFINITELY not going to download it tongue.gif

I googled for it, but cant seem to find anyone who actually has it!! Loads of people are talking about it, but no downloads sad.gif
RustPuppet
There are a bunch of trailers here.

Be sure to watch the HD ones, holy crap.
Surge
Any chance of a couple of scrrenies being uploaded on this site? Sadly, game sites are blocked for me from work. sad.gif

I played the Alpha version at WCG quite extensively this weekend, and I'll tell you this.

The alpha version pretty much kills a HD 2900 XT and E6700. Apparently driver updates and the final code should be much better but I'm skeptic. I'm pretty sure this will eat most pc's out there like it's nothing.

Good thing I'm planning on building a monster Gaming PC soon tongue.gif

You better believe it, One of my enthuiast pals has tried it on his machine

Core 2 Quad Q6600, 2 GB RAM and an 8800 GTS 640 MB and it slaughtered his machine.

What the hell do you you need to play this thing properly - 8800 GTX / Ultra sad.gif
RustPuppet
Bear in mind that was the alpha test Nukes.

Crytek have just released a shot comparison for the various details levels: clicky

Needless to say highest detail looks amazing while low looks like a shitty console port.
Fishfly
hmmmm 8800gts 640mb along with E6700... did he have RAID tongue.gif

but as most people mentioned initial alpha release = bad half arse code with no optimization... lets wait for the final release w00t.gif

Which one, there have been so many tongue.gif

The current one I'm building is going in a TJ07 Silverstone.
Fishfly
:o any chance of 2x8800ultra's?

SLicK
Nah, going single card, SLI 's cost/performance ratio is not worth it at all.

Going next gen, most probably a 8900GTX.
Gitano
Want to give me your old rig?
SLicK
LOL, sure, give me 20k and it's yours tongue.gif
RustPuppet
Wait until you see how many HDDs Slick has eek.gif

RAID 0 FTW!

Wait until you see what's going into my Gaming Monster.

2x Maxtor Atlas 15K II, 15000RPM, 16mb cache Ultra 320 SCSI drives in Raid 0.

They are the fastest SCSI's you get (before going over to SAS SCSI). I know they are maxtor, but when it comes to the server drives the Atlas 15K II have a very big reputation for being the most reliable.

Gitano
Rofl, nice one!

I was wondering, apart from kick ass visuals, it just seems like every other fps, what is so special?

Because i am going to have to spend R4K to get my hands on a 8800 GTS 320 MB in Bahrain just to have a decent experience of teh game.

Is it worth it - fyi UT2007 is also factoring in
Carrots
If you have a decent internet connection, maybe you can get the SP demo and check it out? (1.8 GB or something like that)
I had a quick run-through (well, not through) and it seemed fun. The suit is quite nifty. It makes it possible to approach any part of the game in different ways.

From the demo the storyline looks pretty good as well. It also has quite a bit of atmosphere.

OT: I finished HL2:EP2 this weekend. Now that is also a great game! Its a pity its so short. :-(
I think Crysis can match it though.
Fishfly
geez 4k??? I'm sure if you get it shipped to you it'll cost about R3500 max?
RenegadeNukes
With the postal service we have here in Bahrain it will be a miracle if i ever GET the card.

I do not trust them after they managed to "misplace" over half of the things i ordered to be shipped here and zilch compensation either

Arghhh,

Need to take a trip to dubai and pick it up personally for any good chance of saving cash
Gitano
Come in December, we can meet for coffee or something.
RenegadeNukes
Will look you up smile.gif
RustPuppet
Right, so after playing through the bulk of Crysis this weekend I thought I'd provide some feedback on my experience thus far.

The visuals, as you'd expect, are pretty damn amazing. Everything reminds me of Far Cry though, including the fact that I also had to chop and change settings until the game played smooth enough for my liking. Hectic deja vu.

The AI is fairly standard issue, as is most of the gameplay. Levels are well designed but again, nothing groundbreaking in this department either. Story is cliched and stale, but I suppose that's what we're accustomed to nowadays.

Your suit is cool though, but the novelty wears off after a few levels. The ridiculous recharge time seems like a ploy to drag the game out too.

Unfortunately I've just run into the famous '5 day load/save times' bug as have half the people on the EA forums, big surprise. I'm shelving Crysis for now until the bastards attempt to sort the issue out.

Overall? Mediocre. Look past the visuals and it's just your typical gun-wank. I'm enjoying BioShock far more (with full visuals and great framerates too.)
cyfermaster
I don't have any problems with the Load/Save time, but can't say I enjoyed the game that much. I played it non-stop for a couple of days (okay, I stopped to go play a round of golf), and I got to agree with you Rusty. The recharge time of the suit is rediculous. Not the best game I have ever played. In fact I will sooner play Tiger Woods 2007 again, before I play this.
