A few weeks back, ComingSoon.net got their hands on a leaked memo that indicated what films are likely to happen before the impending Tinseltown strike. One film listed was a “Fast and the Furious 4”, with “Tokyo Drift” helmer Justin Lin’s name pencilled alongside it as its director.

Seems nothing is set in stone just yet.

Today, the site had the chance to ask Lin whether he’s indeed helming his second “Furious” movie.

“Everyone is scrambling, but if I do it, I'm going to have fun with it. I'm still assessing. I haven't totally signed on anything yet. People have been calling me, and I would do it for the right reason with the right people. That was my first action car movie and I feel like I'm better now. I would love to go and flex that muscle if it's appropriate or the right situation. It would take the right people to come on board for me to do it, so we'll see."

Weeeeeeeeell, surprisingly, I found Tokyo Drift to be an ok movie, but what more can REALLY be done here that we have not seen before..?

LMAO, Paul... that should be what F&F4 should be - a terrible b-movie.

I'm guessing that they're gonna go rally car this time...
Mr. Magic Matrix
Tokyo Drift was an okay movie. Still good fun though

I will wait and see what this turns out to be

Looks like Diesel might be back for this one...

Vin Diesel and Paul Walker are in talks to reunite for the fourth installment of Universal's "Fast and the Furious" franchise. Justin Lin and Chris Morgan, who were behind The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift, are returning to directing and writing duties, respectively.

Neal Moritz will produce the as-yet-untitled installment along with Diesel, who will produce through his One Race Films.

The storyline is being kept under wraps. A spring start is anticipated with shooting in Los Angeles, Mexico and the Dominican Republic.

Diesel and Walker starred together in the first film, which earned more than $144 million in 2001. Only Walker returned for the sequel, 2 Fast 2 Furious, and sat out the third installment, 2005's "Tokyo Drift." That movie had relative newcomer Lucas Black in the driver's seat but did feature Diesel in a cameo at the end of the movie.

We got out hands on some sides for the upcoming “Fast and the Furious 4” today, starring Paul Walker and Vin Diesel (or ‘Vin Diesel and Paul Walker’ depending on who fights to have their name above the other – I’m guessing it’ll be Mr. Vincent), and I gotta say, the film sounds pretty good.

Times have definitely changed since the first film… and the script refects this; right down to just how much illegal street racing has changed since Dominic (Diesel) burned rubber in the original.

This time, he’s in Mexico, where he’s racing ‘for’ a guy named Braga. From the sounds of it, Brian (Paul Walker) has chased him down there, and may have even set up this ‘Braga’ deal (possibly as part of a deal for Dom – ‘you help us catch this guy, you get a leaner sentence’); not that Dom’s going to play nicely, naturally.

Dom’s still as cheeky as ever… and as charming (About half-way through the script, Dom’s getting ready for a big race – Brian on the side – and has to give a thumb-print on a scanning pad before getting into the car. One of the female organizers, a hottie named Gisele, even asks for his number before he starts up the engine. So lots of ‘Vin is soooo charming’ gags in here.)

This ‘Gisele’ character pops up frequently…. She works for the bad guys, it seems.

The story looks like it has something to do with Dom – and Brian, no doubt undercover – helping a seedy crowd transport some goods (it doesn’t say what it’s in the goods – not what I read anyway – just that they were in ‘large polymer cases’) to an undisclosed location (everyone’s car has been fitted with a GPS that’ll guide them to the drop-off point). As soon as they leave their location, to evade the authorities, all the drivers have to put ‘metallic car covers’ over their rides so that choppers can’t pick up their heat signals. The choppers zoom over head, but they can’t seen anything but darkness. As soon as the choppers disappear, they’re off and racing!

Other new characters, besides Gisele, in the film include a rogue named Fenix (who Dom doesn't seem to fond of) and a smart-ass named Dwight, who taunts Brian a bit.

Sounds like it’s going to have some cool moments.

Like the first film, this sounds very “Point Break”…. But a bit of fun, too.

I'll wait for it on DVD/TV.
