I reckon that they can do away with 50 overs. 20 overs just makes the game so much more exciting. Boundary, after boundary, after boundary, and an average of 4 hours playing time for a game also appeals to me.
Good result for SA. Keep it up boys!

Chris Gayle really ripped us a new one. What a display.
I am very glad we won, almost started looking like a repeat of 2003's opening game.

We played a great game (excl. the Chris Gayle section).
And NO... I actually don't like T20 much at all. ODI's and tests are what cricket are about... T20 is not cricket.

TO be honest, I don't think we played THAT great. Yes we won, and we chased an awesome score. Let's face it though... The Windies bowled like crap, and the fielding was not exactly on Par. That being said, we still played well enough to get the win.

After 15 overs it looked as though WI might get close to 250! We shut them out towards the end and chased the score down easily. Yes they dropped catches and bowled wides, but we still had to overcome a big mental struggle.

Zimbabwe beat Aus!!! Well done! But this is sort of what I mean... this could only happen in T20

classic who cares if it's 20/20. Aus were out played, plain and simple.
Zim ftw

yeah, go Zimbos. What I did like to see though was that Brett Lee was still smiling and shaking every Zimbos hand. I really respect that dude. Him and Gilchrist. Win and Loose with dignity.

Ponting said afterwards that Australia had been outplayed by Zimbabwe in all departments. "Perhaps we didn't give this game the respect it deserved," he admitted.
At least he admitted it, and gave the zimbos the credit they deserve. A certain captain of SA would never do that.

wow, this forum has a place for like almost everything.
I quite enjoy watching all forms of cricket. I must say that since the introduction of 20/20 cricket 50 over cricket, and test match cricket has got more enjoyable to watch. I mean teams are getting close on 300 in almost every 1 dayer, and test matches are ending with a result more regularly.

LOL... Bangladesh beat the WI. They were so confident coming into the tournament and it this is what they got
And now it would be very nice if England could send Australia home also

That is quite true. But just because T20 is more entertaining doesn't mean that ODI's and tests should be scrapped.

I totally agree with you. I think that 20/20 is good for those games as it gets the batsmen becoming naturally more aggressive. It is benefitting both forms of the game. I would hate to see ODI's and tests done away with.

Can tell you one thing the 20 20 is not good for
the poor bowlers ... even the best in the world are made to fetch some leather
and another thing now imagine the players play the full 50 overs like they do 20 ... then suddenly 400 does not look like a defend able score at all.

Well its has happenned again! The sorry bunch of misfits known as the South African cricket team have pulled off yet another great defeat from the jaws of victory! As the only unbeaten team in the tournament, they were odds on favourites to reach the semis and perhaps even win the innaugral Twenty20 World Cup! Bad fielding, and poor batting from the likes of Smith, that sorry sack of krap Pollock and the retarded Vernon Philander helped India to a victory that stunned all! SA needed to score 126 (chasing India's 150 odd).
Where was Kallis? He must be laughing at this sorry lot. Why wasn't Bodi and Tshabalala givena run (they couldn't have fared worse than Philander)
I've lost all hope of ever seeing the South African cricket team ever winning a World Cup of any kind! The hoodoo that started in 1999 may never be broken!
Yet another sad day for South African cricket............I'm going to say it....CHOKERS!!!!!!!

I got to disagree on the Pollock comment. He got a peach of a delivery. I do agree that they should have had Jacques there (even though I think he is not suited to this type of game), but he would have actually got us there.
That's all I am going to say about it for now....

Hey Cyber, easy on the Pollock hate there
I'm not so sure we choked. We were bound to have an average day out, and unfortunately we got our bad day on our last outing. If we had gotten it earlier in the tournament, then we would have been able to make up for it
Also - FARCE!!! How can we lose 1 game and be ejected from the tournament!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? BULLSHIT!!!!!!!!!

Sep 20 2007, 02:05 PM
no dude... Vernon Philander lost use the game
He's bad fielding, batting, urm what else? that pitch was a difficult pitch to bat on... and given that smith, gibbs, AB, Pollock all went out on such a soft dismissal... the better team won tonight.
as for the who goes through the Run rate is a shit way to go out of a tournament... what is the point of super 8 when you lose one match and you go out??? how does that work?
I mean if you look at the soccer (champions league) if you lose in the group stages your points/matches carry you through... SA beat NZ but lost to india... yet SA went out and NZ went through? htf?
JuCa
Sep 20 2007, 11:53 PM
126 should've been easy to get but they couldn't hit sixes and barely had a few boundaries, all we got was single runs
Also the fact that they got bowled out one by one didn't help the motivation for south africa (did help India though).
Crap way to go out, at least there is still the rugby

the entire proteas team is to undergo extensive first aid training it was reported today. Insiders say that the first thing on the agenda is to learn the Heimlich Maneuver because it seems that the bastards choke far too much
