Hello All, When I start my system I have no taskbar or icons. I do have a mouse. Tried going to task manager and this doesn't work either.
Fishfly
is your windows corrupt? does your system take forever to load?
Paul
did you try and install an alernate explorer shell like blinds, alienguise or stardock or something?

anything that alters themes?

Sounds like something is messing with your explorer.

Pop your cd in and repair windows
cyfermaster
Yeah, run a repair of windows. You could also try boot into safe mode. If you can get in there, try running a restore.
RustPuppet
Sounds like your shell isn't running.

Press ctrl-alt-del, click on Task Manager, open the run command option from 'File' and type 'explorer' (minus quotes).

Should sort it.
cyfermaster
I was going to suggest that, until I read

If however you can get to the Task Manager, what Rusty suggests is the way to go. You might want to check if the explorer.exe process isn't running first though. If it is, end it, and then start a new task called explorer.exe.
RustPuppet
Or just hit WIN + R and type it in there.
cyfermaster
WIN + R doesn't work if your explorer.exe process is broken. sad.gif

I still vote for the booting into safemode option. tongue.gif

That has worked for me as well.

If that doesn't work then your os is fried and its time to reinstall
