Alright, so one of the computers on the network keeps disconnecting after you connect (about 50 seconds later). Friday it still worked fine but since yesterday I've been having this problem dry.gif

The other computer on the network can connect just fine so I do not know what the problem could be? Any ideas party people?

Check your firewall status, iu had that problem and disabling your firewall / tweaking it should fix it

Most of the times networks get messed up by firewalls. Ideally get a router which has an spi firewall - I use a USR 9017A
JuCa
The firewall is off? It hasn't been changed since Friday either so I am assuming it is a software issue? Virus perhaps (although AVG gets nothing)?

Try using an online scanner like Panda. If it is a virus then well you will have to try scanning with it.

Or you could send your pc's to a shop for servicing and ask them to check up on your config

Have you tried the second computer on the network cable where computer 1 is? Maybe it is the cable. It could also be the card.
Mr. Magic Matrix
Have you got a LAN tester, - peice of hardware that will test you card and cable to see if anything is wrong

Most PC shops will stock one

You could check your lan for now by downloading a LAN Chat software and then seeing if all pc's are "seeing" each other. This might also help you find out which end is causing the problem

is what we use at school

and this is the free one

Doesn't windows show when IP's conflict? Anyway, after the weekend it was all fine again so yeah dry.gif
Bone
I think the problem is alot of people are online at weekends ( That happen to me everytime).

What kind of LAN are you running?

Is it an All Wireless? All cable or mixed architecture?

What OS's are you running?
cyfermaster
Bone, your answer is way off. bah.
JuCa
Its just normal network, cables and all that.

Xp is the OS. The weird thing is that it works most of the time but then on certain days it doesn't dry.gif
cyfermaster
They are female afterall.... PMS for cables. WOWSERS!
rurounikenshin
have you tried a different cable? Or tried moving the cable to another port on the switch/router?
perry10
I've had that same problem and changing the cable was the trick for me
