RenegadeNukes

Can't wait to see how it ends

50,000 Gil says he dies at the end of it
Gitano

I don't know what the fuss is about the pothead series...
Gitano
Read all night, finished this morning at 5:30am sad.gif
Feeling all bummed because I know Ill never read about the bunch again, but damn that book was cool.

I think it has to be the best book in the series.
There are a lot of frustrating chapters where you go DAMN MAN, COME ON! But overall it just adds to the excitement. When you hit the action, its like taking an overdose of speed, I just couldn't stop reading, and I was reading so fast I had to go back and re-read paragraphs because I was just concentrating on the dialog e and then got to a point where I was like... whoa, ok, now I don't know whats going on!!

Cyfer, you don't understand?
Have you ever read the first book? Im not saying its a literary masterpiece, but it just tugs at the heartstrings man, it has to be my favourite series of all time, and I have read A LOT of sci-fi/fantasy/fiction. I know I'm far from an authority, and I never will be, but I know what I like, and this, I like more than I like Guinness. Which is saying something.
russell
Agreed, this was the best book of the series. I was just like you, racing through the action scenes. Cyfer, have you read the books? Cos you can't judge this off the movies.
cyfermaster
I haven't read the books, and I have only really watched 1 movie. I guess I would have to read the first book to maybe get what the whole fuss is about...
Gitano
Definitely!
russell
Yeah, while the movies were enjoyable, they don't do the books justice.
Gitano
Justice? They might as well be a completely different story!

Don't get me wrong, the movies are great, but even attempting to mention the two together is ridiculous tongue.gif

Action in books??????

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Never read any books other than my MCSE, MCSA, A+, N+ MCPS etc. etc.

Books to me are pages filled with text compiled into an object.
Gitano
I couldn't live without books!
Books make me cry, sweat, angry, happy...... I get so involved in stories I forget I'm reading and then something distracts me and I'm like damn, gotta start actually READING again...
russell
Agreed, I'm a voracious reader and I pity people who don't read. Guess that makes me an elitist snob, but at least a well read elitist snob tongue.gif
Gitano
I just think that people who don't enjoy reading haven't found the right book yet.
RenegadeNukes
Well got my copy this morning and have finished it. 6 hours staright clap.gif

I have to admit that this was the best out of the series and i loved the ending (despite it being predictable), The revelations about snape were something that took me completely by surprise.

Very good read!
naughty
actually to me it was the most violent and depressingly dark book of the lot - just no humour involved - and it just isnt for its target market IMHO - i mean it just gives out the message that its okay to kill people - and for the 10-18 year old generation that this book is targetting it isnt the best underlying tone for the book to take

overall though i enjoyed the read of all 7 books - got them all again and i reread the others before getting down to the last one just to refresh my memory - it took me a whole week to do that - and despite me not being the target age it was still a decent read

i know harry's supposed to be growing up for most of this book - but the references to killing and dying make this into a bit of a gorefest - and i wonder how long it will be before some fan decides that his classmate in school is a dark wizard and a brick to the head is just as effective a a spell from a wand to get rid of him tongue.gif

im not being prudish - but this is after all a kiddies book and it shouldnt be as dark as this - the athmosphere is very bleak and violent for somthing like this and yeah thats would have been fine if it was intended for an older audience who have been brought up on "nightmare on elm street" and "chucky" movies

The last few books have been progressively getting darker. As for this promoting violence in kids, that's just ridiculous. Like the people who blamed Columbine on music and so on.

I think the books covering topics such as death and that is a good thing. We can't shelter kids from the dark side of life, then at the age of 18 push them off into the world to suddenly discover that it isn't all little flower fairies and sugary sweetness.
