Okay, I'm looking for some works which fit one or more of the below criteria:

- Modern American social commentary
- Satire
- Witty humor, but with substance
- Stupid and risque things that happen in a New York City
- Fresh ideas and themes
Any suggestions appreciated.

Try this book...

Indecision - by Benjamin Kunkel, a friend of mine is reading it at the moment and says it's pretty funny and offbeat and it covers all the criteria you mention

This is a the New York Time review of it: http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html...75BC0A9639C8B63

Here is a page with some other reviews for it:

If I think of anything else, I will post some more ideas...

For some satire, Animal Farm and 1984 are good reads.

Heart, I approved this post just so I could show you how NOT to post..

Above is a post that brought an old topic back to life, this would be OK if the post was informative, relevant to the topic, or brought a new angle to the topic.
The above post is none of these things.

The topic starter asked for suggestions in certain genres, you couldn't have read his post because you assumed he knew what books he wanted.

If you don't have something profound to add to an old topic, leave it be.

Heart of gold you have made some great posts since you have been here, don't go back on that now!!
