Hey all you Unreal Fan Boys! Here is some new information on Unreal Tournmament 3!!! - Enjoy

About Unreal Tournament 3

Introduction
Unreal Tournament 3 (previously codenamed 'Envy' and also formerly named UT2007) is Epic Games' sequel to Unreal Tournament 2004. Published by Midway Games, UT3 is powered by Epic's new Unreal Engine 3, and is due to be released on PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 (estimated Fall 2007 release - but the official date is "when it's done")

Gameplay
Unreal Tournament 3 promises a return to the "feel" of the original Unreal Tournament. Epic aims to make the game more in-your-face, fast-paced, and less "floaty". To accomplish this gravity has been increased and Dodge jumping has been removed. However, dodging, double jumps, and wall dodging will remain with their effect somewhat diminished to the newly increased gravity. Gameplay in UT3 stresses close combat more than its UT2004 predecessor. Many of the weapons are more effective up close. Epic stresses that the aim of UT3 is to create a whole new - and better - game, rather than merely a prettier UT2004. In addition to this, old favorites from the original UT such as jump boots and the ability to feign death will return in UT3.

  • DeathMatch/Team DeathMatch - The grandaddy of first-person-shooter gametypes is alive and well. Expect all versions of Deathmatch (1v1, FFA, TDM) to be well supported with all new levels such as DM-Whisper, DM-Carbonfire, as well as old favorites such as Deck 16.
  • Capture the Flag - The classic CTF gametype is still included. The gametype has also been expanded to include levels with vehicles. The hoverboard replaces the translocator in maps with vehicles, and you can carry the flag on the hoverboard. However, entering into a flying vehicle with the flag will cause you to drop it.
  • Warfare - Warfare is the next evolution of the Onslaught gametype and similarly there are nodes. However, there are also conduits that can be taken over by bringing your team's orb to the conduit. Assault-like side missions will be available to gain resources for your team.
With Unreal Warfare, it's clear that Epic intends to offer something for the more tactical gamer, with the Warfare mode focusing more on strategy, resource management and teamwork. The gameplay sequence at the end of this CG 2005 presentation shows what a Warfare sub-objective might look like.

Steve Polge on Warfare (E3 2006)

First off, in Warfare, you will try to control a series of conduits by delivering an orb to it. Both teams get one Orb, so you'll have to take care of it. Steve mentioned that this will give really skilled players a way to have more fun within the game. Once you deliver the orb to the conduit another one is created.
The Unreal Tournament 3 singleplayer portion will expand upon the simple ladder matches present in previous installments. A four act storyline, complete with a cinematic beginning and ending, will tell the story of the player seeking revenge for the slaughter of his clan. Mid-way through, the Necris attack and your allegiance can slip from corporation to corporation. Co-op play will be available in campaign mode. Once the Necris infection begins, you will replay maps that will have changed from their presence, with the addition of Necris vehicles and stolen technology. Levels will be visibly altered from the Necris infection tubes. On one map, CTF-Corruption, the base of each team is a feudal Asian inspired multi-level building, but the Necris side has enormous Necris tendrils snaking through the landscape and as far up into the sky as you can see. This time around, Epic wants to step away from the wildly different maps seen in previous tournaments, and instead create a few cohesive worlds and tie them together with their level design. You may see a building in the distance on one level and play in it on the next.

* Impact Hammer - returning from UT, replacing the Shield Gun.
* Dual Enforcers - returning from UT, replacing the Assault Rifles. Primary fire is a basic automatic shot; secondary fire is a three round burst.
* Canister Gun - has two firing modes: Grenade Launcher and Mine Layer. Different types of ammunition will be needed for each firing mode. This weapon effectively combines two different UT2004 guns into a single, multi-purpose device. This weapon is unconfirmed and it is rumored that the grenade launcher and spider layer will be separate weapons. With the revelation that the Bio Rifle was once again its own weapon, this weapon was presumed to have been dropped
* Bio Rifle - similar to its previous UT games counterparts. A 25 January 2007 trailer and screenshot indicate this will be a separate weapon, as opposed to a mode for the Canister Gun, as previously mentioned by Epic.
* Shock Rifle - Playtests confirmed that this weapon is now more similar to the UT version; the rate of fire is slower than the UT2004 version, and the cores are smaller and faster.
* Link Gun - features a primary fire mode much like the Pulse Gun from UT, comprised mainly of repeated bolts of green energy. The Link Gun is much more similar to the UT version than UT2004's Link Gun, having a much faster primary rate of fire (media showing the Link Gun confirmed this). The secondary fire mode fires a beam that, when linked to other team mates wielding the Link Gun, enhances its power. Additionally, the Link Gun can be used to repair vehicles and charge/heal power nodes in Unreal Warfare.
* Tarydium Stinger - previously seen in Unreal and Unreal Championship 2: The Liandri Conflict, replaces the Minigun. The secondary fire mode has the ability to nail an opponent to a wall.
* Flak Cannon - much like its previous forms, sprays shards of hot metal when using the primary fire mode and, when using the secondary fire mode, launches an explosive flak shell into the air. Primary fire remains the same, but the arc of flak shells is shorter than it was in UT2004.
* Rocket Launcher - primary fire will function similarly to the UT2004 Rocket Launcher with the ability to fire up to three rockets. It will also have an alternate function to fire up to three grenades as well, as seen in Unreal and UT's "8-Ball" launcher, and dropped in UT2003/UT2004.[12]. The rocket launcher main fire retains its features from past games, being able to fire in either spread or tight spiral patterns. Rockets fire slower than the UT2004 version, but deal more damage. It also has an improved homing feature.
* AVRiL - Anti-Vehicle Rocket Launcher (the "i" being for pronunciation purposes) is a weapon whose main use is against vehicles. Primary fire shoots a slow but powerful anti-vehicle missiles; holding the crosshairs on a vehicular target causes the missiles to accelerate and home in on the target. Secondary fire zooms and locks on. AVRiL rockets can be shot down. It is ineffective against infantry.
* Sniper Rifle - much like its predecessors, the Sniper Rifle fires when primary fire is pressed, and zooms in or out when secondary fire is pressed.
* Translocator - a personal teleportation device. Primary fire launches a translocator beacon, while secondary fire teleports to that beacon.
* Redeemer - a portable nuclear missile capable of extreme damage. No information or media has been released about it for this version.
* Target Painter - activates a level specific hazard (such as a rock slide).

Well looks like the designers are giving the game the feel of the original UT - which is a change for the better as UT2K4 wasn't really Unreal and felt more like a standard FPS!!!

Can't wait to use the famous double enforcers again

RustPuppet
Man that's weak, basically the exact same weapons from the previous games with nothing new. Might as well just have made a mod for the UT2K4.

Hopefully the engine will save this from becoming what Tiberium Wars was to the C&C franchise.
RenegadeNukes
Can't say anything about the engine from the screenies. I like having a taste of the old with new things thrown in.

The new vehicles and modes of play (warfare for example) should be good!

I'll try the demo and then see how it is
Lucien
What they took out the minigun !?!?!?!
The Stinger never was a very useful weapon....

I doomed... *smirk*
RenegadeNukes
Minigun was my favorite weapon as well!!

Dunno how i will manage without it?
RustPuppet
Rocket launcher FTW.
Fishfly
flak cannon and shock rifle will do thanks biggrin.gif

As revealed at Sony's press conference at the E3 Media & Business Summit, Unreal Tournament 3 is coming out this year for the PC and PS3 only. It will allow cross-platform play between the two platforms, which will be greatly enhanced by the inclusion of keyboard/mouse support.

Cool! I think this is a damn smart move on Sony/Epic's part, especially considering the bad sales and such that PS3 is experiencing.
RenegadeNukes
This game is looking better and better by the day! Some very kickass trailers on the web site as well!
I can't wait to see what the new vehicles are like + the warfare mode is a lot like C & C Renegade multiplayer!

Which is going be nostalagic for me and if they can pull it off right will result in being what Onslaught was to ut2k4
Fishfly
drool.gif /me readies to pitch my tent to buy thing game once it hits SA!
RustPuppet
My tent is already pitched. Flagpole raised. At attention.

So to speak.
Mr. Magic Matrix
So from saying "that is weak", the rust is now camping outside already waiting for the game!

Impressive. Time to get the tent out, oh and the new machine.

That too
Fishfly
ya where's your new machine rust???

I was mocking Fishy's unintended sexual innuendo i.e. 'pitching a tent.'

Sigh. Jokes just aren't funny after you have to explain them sad.gif

Unreal Tournament 3 system requirements revealed
Category: PC, Posted: 10/03/2007 by Brendon Lindsey, Editor-in-Chief

I know, all of you PS3 owners are sad about Unreal Tournament 3 being pushed back until 2008. If you're like me, you don't have a very good gaming PC, and you were looking forward to messing around on the PS3 version.

Oh well. Guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens. In the meantime, PC gamers will still get to experience UT3 this November. Today Midway released the official system requirements for the game, and I have to say, I'm pretty happy. I may end up getting to play this on the PC after all.

Minimum System Requirements
Windows XP SP2 or Windows Vista
2.0+ GHZ Single Core Processor
512 Mbytes of System RAM
NVIDIA 6200+ or ATI Radeon 9600+ Video Card
8 GB of Free Hard Drive Space

Recommended System Requirements
2.4+ GHZ Dual Core Processor
1 GBytes of System RAM
NVIDIA 7800GTX+ or ATI x1300+ Video Card
8 GB of Free Hard Drive Space

linkage

Not too hectic actually.
Fishfly
wah... that's low ya... but I wonder what features you can enable with those settings.... I'm feeling a UT2k3 here crying.gif
RenegadeNukes
Sob!!!!!

Need a new GPU to push that game to the limits
Carrots
LOL, that recommended GFX settigs are pretty damn low!
RustPuppet
Let's be honest here, does anyone really expect this to run like butter on anything less than a high-end rig considering the new engine?

I would say you'll probably need at least:

8800gts
Conroe
2GB RAM
RenegadeNukes
I wish i could get my hands on that, its not a case of not having the money

Its the case of retailers here telling me that the 7600 GT is the newest card released.

Like WTF

I wonder if i could get one from dubai or something
W@RP@T}{
^^ Damn and here I thought SA was backwards
RenegadeNukes
The demo is out for preload

Well time to see what UT3 is made of

I would dwnld the file wouldn't rape my bandwidth cap
Fishfly
I hate installing demos... but I shall be the first in the queue to buy this game... althought I have a feeling that they are going to release this and then a follow up with much higher spec syste sad.gif
RustPuppet
PC version has just been shipped w00t.gif
Fishfly
serious???

I must have it... but wait my wallet is bitching at me sad.gif
W@RP@T}{
Ran the demo online and played a bit.

GFX are good but not as good as Crysis and the like.

Put everything on Max and the one stage slowed down a bit so turning one or two things down will ensure sweet framerates on a

Core 2 @ 3GHZ

8800GTS 320MB XXX edition

2GB RAM

Res 1680x1050

so on a 19" LCD @ 1280x1024 framerate should be fine with everything maxed.

Good to see a good engine running well without killing your comp.

With a 10K score in 3D Mark 06 you should see the same results as I have.

I dont' think Iburst and online can go in the same sentance tongue.gif

I'm wondering if I should be using 2x8800gt or 2x 3870 for these games @ 1680x1050... g.gif

RustPuppet
Lol, you can't afford cash for the game but you can afford two 8800's?
W@RP@T}{
I think 1 8800GT will do a pretty decent job, although I can't wait to try 2 in SLI tomorrow night tongue.gif
Carrots
:cry2:

My 8800GT is on its way back to the manufacturers... :-(

But the demo ran pretty much fine on my 7900GT, although not at native res. But the action is fast, so you dont really ever get an opportunity to stop and look at the prettyness.
