Full Version: Death of V9

All the "new tournament created" type threads that are part of the RSS feed and the recent posts page is what made me visit the place less and less. I would see the last 9 posts was "new tournament created" in the RSS, then I would log on to the page and click on recent posts. Somewhere on page 3 I would see that there actually was something posted which was not related to the arcade! Whoot! sad.gif

After a while it becomes too much trouble.

Could you please not let these topics become part of the recent posts and RSS feeds?
RustPuppet
I've just brought this up in the staff forum, we'll have a solution soon hopefully.
Carrots
Cool, thanks!

V9 is being brought down by the lack of good quality posts.... Alot of the posts these days.. doesnt make me to want to reply... (except to all the posts involving the men of 300... lol) In fact alot of the posts these days just make me want to roll my eyes or just yeah... annoys me.... And the lack of the lus to reply, affects my want to even post a new topic..

But that's just my opinion... If it wasnt for the pervbox, I wouldnt frequent v9 as much...

Wolf
Things have sure changed since the first time i came here too

Wolf, Shi x2: can you elaborate? Examples? Suggestions?
RenegadeNukes
I think the Arcade things should be moved to its own forum in in the SPAM category, so it won't be in everyone's face and hopefully wouldn't appear in the RSS feeds

But with regards to the arcade, i think there should be a minimum post limit before people can use the arcade, lest the tournaments and others.

We are a forum with an arcade not vice versa

Also from my experiences on other forums., they continually go through patches where th9ings die down and stuff and we have so many good members on v9 that i think we shouldn;'t worry

On one of my other forums we only had 10 good members, here its upwards of 20. You shouldn't have too much trouble with this at all

Edit: Double post merged - Milano

i think we should award the best up and coming newbies

Yes Carrots, I agree that it would improve the board.

It has become quiet here, many people left and never came back, that is what i meant.
I could give names, but we know where they are
My suggestion, get new members in, the how i dont know.

Appreciation, distinction to say the least. For newbies there should be a motivation to do post and things - for me iots that i want ot make a difference to wherever i go (but not everyone is as motivated)

This would allow newbies to want to compete with one anther nad productiviity would get better.

Maybe there's a special insignia for the avs sigs etc

Another thing could be to remove the 10 post moderation thing!
I found that highly irrating and it would be a major turn off for members

You can quite quickly tell who is a spammer by there posts and then they can have a word with. I would vote for removinmg the mod thing
Carrots
Just before you joined, the admins had their hands full with users like "fabn3154" telling us about the wonders of vigara. A couple of them a day.
While the new post moderation is trouble, the alternative is even more so. The spammers would then also continue posting because of the 30 min exposure they get before the post goes down.

Anyway, while it is certainly a bit quiet here, we have a very friendly community. There are a couple of die-hards here who keep the place alive. We need to grow a bit, but I dont think V9 will die any time soon.
RustPuppet
As Carrots said, there was carnage with spammers before we implemented the new system, so I doubt we're going back anytime soon.

Haha, I think the noobs must just be content with being noobs biggrin.gif

Now that i know that. i take back my statement! The mod thing should be kept as if it was not present it would be "carnage"
Mr. Magic Matrix
Umm..

I'm a bit curious to see these posts and stuff (if you still have them). I'm still wondering what these people were like
millennia
Um dude, it was spam... Selling viagra, pc parts, all that arb shit you could see was spam from a mile away.

Would be kinda hard to see these people...

Rust: I dont think v9 is diverse enough especially in terms of gender.. no females post regularly besides me... the majority of the regular posters are males living in jhb or pretoria...

Some of the recent posts are not thought provoking or interesting... I remember a time when there were so many good posts made that I would take a while to get through them all, read them and then reply... But like I said, this is just my opinion

And now that val hug.gif is very busy at work and cyfer daydreams about his wub.gif all the time tongue.gif pervbox is quiet...
RenegadeNukes
Shi Shi, don't give up hope so easily! smile.gif

Location shouldn't really be a barrier and since this pace is a SA forum the majority will be from SA. But every know and then people from all over the globe will turn up (Hunter is American - i think)

Even though V9 may not be as good as it was - I still believe that V9 has real potential and is far from dead
RustPuppet
I see your point Shi x2.... hmm, we need to brainstorm some ideas on getting more chicks on the Vault.

Your point I agree with most is the lack of decent posts (mainly made up of pointless generic replies just for the sake of replying IMO), of which I could provide 100 examples off the top of my head. We need to encourage quality rather than quantity!

I do have one or two ideas, but more suggestions are always welcome. Hopefully we can implement something soon smile.gif
JuCa
But you guys should know how much money I made from those viagra ads

*grins at Paul*
