Lucien

hunter
Cool, what are your in game nicks?
Fishfly
I've got all 3 too,

cyfermaster
I was actually looking at buying this the other day, but didn't know which 1 of the 2 versions to buy? Is there a big difference between the 2? Which 1 should I get?
hunter
There are 3 versions.

original - Prophecies
Factions
Nightfall

IMO you should get Prophecies or NightFall first. Factions is fun but not as good as those 2.

Get Prophecies first, longer campaign, but trust me you will want the others once you get into it tongue.gif
cyfermaster
alrighty. I will most likely do it that way then. smile.gif
Lucien
Mine
Thalia Deathwisper (Prophecies), Lucinda Mharni (Factions), Tuthmosis Arakis (Nightfall)

Saint's
Zorpha Scale (Prophecies)

====

I'm starting to lose my cool with this game as it stands now.
It's impossible

The 2nd Campaign mission in Factions took at least 20 tries
Now when you come up on a level 24 boss - It's game over after the first swipe - I'm not even at the 3rd mission yet and every enemy is level20?

The Northern Shiverpeaks is pretty much the same story, some doos of a Dwarf always breaks through and promptly kills the monk henchman - every single bloody time. Followed by all the other henchman. Then I'm left alone and being a necromancer means this pretty much ends there.

The first missions @ Yaks bend went something like this - engage troop of 3/4 - Entire party eliminated in 15 seconds... I couldn't even win by attrition - I can't get a single enemy dead....

Trying to do every mission with a -60% death penalty is madness

I feel that if you're not warrior class you're screwed...
Saint could kill three Level 8 Char by himself (he was only like level 6/7)
One could be a real threat to me - If by some miracle he didn't go for the monk first

Either that or I suck (High possibility)

Anyhow - Rant end... sorry

===

Perhaps I should stop playing for a while - Till Saint gets his adsl installed
A real pity, I really like it, but the frustration will drive me to something I can ill afford

Oblivion: Shivering Isles arrived yesterday... will keep me busy
hunter
Yeah some missions are very very frustrating, Yaks Bend was a ball ache for me too but once you get through it more of the missions get easier.

Trust me you dont have to have a warrior, my main character is an Elementalist and she kicks serious ass, now though I am focussing on a Dervish.

Factions has a lot of shortcomings I would say, you level up too quick and by the time you reach the mainland you might be level 20, but as you said so are the monsters.

The henchmen in the game have their place, but playing in a proper group of human players will egt you much much further. The AI is smart so it will target the healers, just as you target the enemy healers.

keep at it, once you out of the mountains the missions really are awesome and you slowly start getting better and better weapon and item drops. You have a loooong way to go in Prophecies and trust me its worth it tongue.gif
Lucien
I do hope so....

I've done a few missions with other players, but they all feel "rushed"
- the one ended in 3 minutes with all but 2 dead (out of 6) and no resurrection possible

Call me silly, I like to explore, watch the scenery etc.
Seems like others don't always share my view
hunter
If we ever online at the same time I will happily join you, I love exploring too and I am in no rush to finish a mission tongue.gif

Part of the "other" site but has a lot of helpful info
Lucien
Much appreciated - will keep a eye out for you
Fishfly
well firstly if you didn't realise Factions were bought out not for new players but for experienced players, they really throw you in the deep end when you get to factions and

1. if you don't know the game Start with Prophecies first
2. if you don't know your skill don't touch Factions or NF first
3. if you want to know how to play the game play Prophecies first
4. if you want skills for FREE for Ranger, Monk, Necromancer, Warrior, Mesmer and Elementist then start with Prophecies FIRST!
5. if you want some kinda of survival armour for Factions or NF get them at prophecies first

yes you can get NF armour but if you start with NF you would dispise how long it will take you to get off the Training Island sad.gif plus using gold to buy skills gets a tad expensive as it increments each skill you buy (you need skill points to buy skills too). the gold may start with 10 but it hits a cap of 1 platinum (1000 gold) and that is expensive as if you want to unlock all the skills you'll be forking out at least 200k in gold sad.gif
THE SAiNT
So I finally finished Prophecies. I still have 5 misions that I need to do the Bonus for. I have Nightfall now but have not played yet due to not having a connection. My character is now 1 year old and I recieved a cool miniature, a Temple Guardian.

I played GWEN as a trial for an hour and it was pretty amazing. Once I'm done with Nightfall, I'll get GWEN, just for the stryline.

The most difficult part for me in Prophecies is Sorrow's Furnace. Lots of cool drops but very dangerous. You need a very good team to get far.

Hope to see you on the battleground. Zorpa Scale.

Adieu
Fishfly
