to backup do this:

go to C:\Documents and Settings\YourUserFolder\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities

there will be a folder name something like this: {75508F2E-78D3-440B-962E-11A83B968698}. open that folder. Now open microsoft and inside you will see outlook express. backup everything this folder.

it basically contains all your email. you can then import all this into outlook express.

cyfermaster: what link are you talking about?

The link I removed from the post found here

It is almost the exact same post, from the same person. Read the first and last posts.

Outlook Express stores its email files in a location such as the following:

"%booting drive%:\Documents & Settings\Administrator\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\{SDOCE8ABD-5896-3E3D5}\Microsoft\Outlook Express"

Where 'Administrator' is the user's logon ID and the value in curly-brackets {} is an arbitrary string.

From this location you can copy the required *.dbx file and store to a safe location. In this way you can backup your Outlook Express E-mails before re-installation.

but if you have a virus - i wouldnt back those up cos the virus may just be lying in there too - and will probably infect your new install anyway - so you will have the exact same problem a month or so later - if you havent been doing regular backups you are screwed

my solution - never keep anything on your pc that you cant walk away from with a decision taking longer than two minutes

You can export similar to full Outlook.
