i'm currently running windows 2000, but i want to run windows xp, problem is i have a dell latitude c800 notebook and it won't read my windows xp cd. i think i may need a dell windows xp cd to put windows xp on this notebook. other than that, i prefer xp to vista since i hear that vista isn't a good gaming OS.

To the best of my knowledge the only versions in XP are home & professional. Try running a cd cleaner & make sure the xp cd is clean. unsure.gif

you could always try making a "backup" of your original xp cd and try it again on the dvd drive

First off, boot into the BIOS and make sure that your computer has Boot from CD above Boot From Hard Disk in there. F2 is to get in it on Dells I'm pretty sure. Save settings, and then try again.

er....I think you are thinking of Office XP (also known as Office 2002) which is MS Word, Excel etc... I am pretty darn sure that there is only Windows XP standard and professional. I could be wrong, but I don't think so.

You also get the media Centre edition.

Looks like "5" versions...

No. There is a version Of XP that was called Office Variant. However for some reason it never took off and therefore most stores didn't stock it
cyfermaster
It may be a corporate/office version meaning it is a Volume License Edition, but it is still XP Pro. At least that is how I understand it.
