I am no expert, and I haven't looked at prices in ages, but I would have to say that I would not get that machine. The 7600 isn't that great. sad.gif Also I would go for a 4400 at least, with 2GB of ram. That may just be me though....

Sorry I can't be of more help. Fishfly? Rusty?
RenegadeNukes
LOM I would go with Rusty and Fishfly - they are good with PC's and stuff

I would recommends you check out www.meshcomputers.com

They make some awesome gaming rigs with insanely low prices. I would post a model that i would recommend here - but you didn't give me a price limit. Check it out

I would have to agree with Cyfer. If you are buying a new machine you are best off getting one that will remain good for atleast 2/3 years. The one you posted is already mid range and by next range it'll be obsolete.

Definitely go with the Conroe and an 8x generation video card if you can afford it, plus 2GB of RAM minimum.

Stuff like a widescreen LCD and a fancy case is nice but not really necessary, so worry about those later. I also wouldn't waste money on Vista just yet.

Do you have a pricelist for a retailer in your area, and a budget? We can help you much better that way, piece by piece. If not we can look through some of those complete rigs, but you'll end up paying more in the long run.
RenegadeNukes
Yep 2GB as an absolute miniimum, apparently you can get up 5 GB of RAM now as well.

Are you building from scratch or do you have an old PC to breathe life into
cyfermaster
Start NEW. Don't try breath life into anything that isn't the minimum of that top machine at the least. IMO
RustPuppet
Indeed. Buy a new system that will last a bit e.g. get a mobo that will support future CPUs, not just something to run a current CPU, etc.

Nice BUT 1 waste of money.

Firstly if you are looking at a 8800gts it'll be more than enough to sustain 1680x1050 at details high BUT it might start chugging when you enable AA etc...

This is my suggestion:

1. throw out that Shitty 2gig of DDR2 667MHZ and get yourself some teamextreme DDR800
2. Drop Vista operating system and stick to XP
3. Drop the SHIT Sony dvd writer! and get either a Plextor or Pioneer or LG
4. Personal prefence if you want a decent board rather get the DFI board that uses the RD600 chipset! Awesome board that!
5. 1 500gig Seagate is way too noisy for my liking rather stick to 2x250 or 2x320 Samsung Spinpoint or Hitachi in RAID 0 configuration.
6. The 22' widescreen does not have a make or model so if you are looking at one you should look at nothing less than 8ms for gaming else you'll ghost to hell and back!
7. For the mouse Rather get a G7 wireless mouse for gaming or G5 for wired. and any standard keyboard from logitech it's very very cheap
8. The PSU is 1000W generic? Best PSU atm is the Cooler Master 800W PSU it'll run the 8800gtx in SLI w00t.gif
9. Now for the big mama 2x8800gts 320 is rather an overkill also especially most games do not utilize SLI fully plus the 5% increase in FPS does not warrant the extra R3000.... for now getting 1 8800gts 320mb is more than sufficient, why not wait and see what ATI's flagship can do cos if possible I'd rather get me 1xATI R600 over 2x8800gts 320mb.

Carrots
I agree with fish, except that afaik that mobo is fine.
I also like vista, and think that would be a better Idea than XP.
DEFINITELY NOT SONY!!!!! I have heard VERY bad things about those DVD-RW's. VERY VERY BAD!!!

Personally, I think 320GB HD would be enough for 99% of the people.

I would rather get a single 8800GTX than 2x 320mb GTS in SLI.
RustPuppet
I agree with most of what Fish said, although I have a couple big Seagate's myself and I don't find them noisy at all, not even compared to my Hitachi.

Also, I find most wireless mice to be too laggy when compared to a hardcore wired gaming mouse, so I would stick to one of the high-end Razer or Logitech variants.

I think you may also want to wait until the 8600 range is released if cash is an issue: you'll get rocking performance from a couple of those little buggers in SLI.
Fishfly

you haven't tried the G7 have you???

problem is creative x-fi drivers... tv card drivers so until I get them I will NOT touch vista! oh plus if you wanna get vista a Minimum of 2gigs is the bare minimum!

rust problem with 2x8600 sli isn't going to hack it at 1680x1050 with everything high... maybe be sufficient for the next 6 months but what about after that? He's looking at the next 2-3 years before looking at another upgrade!

Seagate 500gig is not the same range as the 320's I've had 2 of these and they are NOISY, chugs like a bad dvd in a dvd writer!

teh reason why I suggested the DFI board is the pricing and nothing else the 680i chipsets are currently priced over the 3k mark... no so good if you have a budget biggrin.gif

LegendofMax
Today i looked around Bahrain and for a oc using RenegadeNukes, Fishfly & RustPuppet's specs and found a winning matchup:

2x Inter P4 3.4 DOU GHZ processor
Intel P4 945 MotherB
320 SATA GB Hard Disk
Std 1mb Network card
7300 GT 512mb Nvidia
18X DVD/RW Drive
Speakers & Microphone Set
ATX Computer Case

Sexy right? Try this for the price: 285 BD (R 4845)

+ Windows XP Home: 35 BD (R 595)
+ Nortan Internet Security: 9 BD (R 150)

GRAND TOTAL: 392 BD (R 5595)

I already have a primo 17" Monitor and Obtic Mouse so extras are cut out. All and all this was the best Quotation we got today.
My dad thought the price was reasonable and with a 2 Year Garantee to boot.

Nice. Finally you can play games tongue.gif

Your network might be slow with a 1Mb card tongue.gif I assume though you mean 1Gb. Also why XP home?
cyfermaster
Didn't know there was a STD 1mb card. buy it and sell it to a museum. bleh.gif Yeah, don't get XP Home. It is puke.gif Rather go for XP Pro. Otherwise that price is sweet. /me thinks of the all the moolah I spent on mine... sad.gif

XP pro is NOT for games, i have it here and it sometimes crashes my games on "An unkown hass occured and this program has to shut down, blah blah." Altho they did offer me a Vista Pro for at least double more, but why would i pay for an operating system that doesnt even support Office yet? lol!

Yea price is sexy, only worries is the plain case im getting so ill make a little topic in Cooling/Case Mods once i pimped it out. renske.gif

HUH??? is this suppose to be a joke?

nice games you gonna play with that rig... Solitaire here yuo come!
RenegadeNukes
I saw this guys rig today and it seems smooth, fast and powerfull enough to run games. i donm't see what is wrong with the rig.

I'm heading out to get something similar now
LegendofMax
Im on my Speedbox right now, OMG i load anything soo fast hahahah its f**king AWESOME!! I reboot in 15 seconds =D
RenegadeNukes
Yep his machine is blazingly fast

BTW Nice Avatar - i like it

RustPuppet
Fishy is right, that machine will only be good for solitaire by the end of the year. Good buy for the price though, but it'll struggle when this year's big titles like Crysis and Alan Wake come out.

BTW XP Pro is fine for gaming: it's just XP Home with a bunch of extras, but basically the same under the hood.
Fishfly
geez firstly you are both mad... buying a old technology for 5k is no what you call value for money...

as for your 7300... great card there you'll be able to play soooooo much solitaire... Good luck on trying to run STALKER, Command and Conquer 3 and Crysis...

as for your judgement I personally think you just bought a nice WORD, EXCEL system. Great going
RustPuppet
LOL, you're going to make the guy hate his brand new system Fish laugh.gif

But yeah, I can see it being sold when you install Crysis and it runs like a slideshow.
