Howdy,

So the Super 14 is currently underway, and for a change we have a team in the top 4 after 4 weeks. smile.gif The sharks are in 3rd place, even though they have only played 3 games. There next game will be a tough one against The Crusaders, but I have faith that they can win it.

Do you think we have a change of 1 of our sides making a semi, and even the final? Maybe 2 teams in the Semis??
blueSHIFT
We gonna win it this year!!!!

THE SHARKS FTW!!!!

LOVE THEM OF FEAR THEM!!!!
hunter
Nope SA team wont win it

Semi final maybe
Hirok
Think the only chance we have is if they sharks win all of their home matches
and get some decent results away from home...
Gonna be tough when the All Blacks come back, tho!

Think the sharks will be the only SA team in the semi's, Bulls have looked terrible this year
and dont think they will feature in the semis!
CyberStorm
Judging from past tournaments, SA teams have had some cracker starts with the NZ and AUS teams a little slow to get off the mark, only to have the tables reversed mid-way through the tournament!

The Sharks, Cheetahs and to a lesser extent the Lions are looking pretty good this year, but lets not get ahead of ourselves here. It's still early in the tournament and the fun will start when the boys from Natal and the Free-State head over to Australasia.

Remember its not how you start that counts, its how you finish!!
This is exactly what NZ teams are brilliant at doing!

cyfermaster
Well after a great weekend for SA teams to an okay weekend. At least my team won again. After that win for the Sharks smile.gif it seems the Cheetahs are clutching at straws...

[quote]A former provincial cricketer, Dewald Senekal, may make his debut in Super 14 rugby when the Cheetahs take on the Brumbies in Bloemfontein on Saturday.

Senekal, a seam bowler and useful batsman who played for Eastern Province and the Titans, is expected to be included in the Cheetahs squad against the Australians.

A versatile forward who can be used on the flank or at lock, Senekal trained with the Sharks earlier this year and later played for the Falcons in the Vodacom Cup competition. [\quote]

5 wins out of 5 for the Sharks.
They are currently 2nd place of the log, 2 points behind the Blues with a game in hand!

Cant wait for this weekends game against the Hurricanes!
blueSHIFT
Oh yeah. Sharks forever!! WE gona win it...oh yeah!!!
CyberStorm
My semi-final prediction: Sharks, Blues, Highlanders, Force
cyfermaster
WOOHOO w00t.gif GO TEAM GO!!! Another win for the Sharks. They are now top of the log. clap.gif I still see the Crusaders doing some damage and maybe even making a semi-final. Write them off at your peril....
CyberStorm
A good performance yesterday by the Sharks against the Hurricanes.
I saw the match live at ABSA stadium! smile.gif

I'm glad they got the bonus point.
Here's looking forward to a win with a BP against the Brumbies on Saturday!!

I may live here, but I am from Durban. Would I support England, Australia etc if I moved to England or Australia??? I think not. I would still be supporting S.A.

You should go watch The Sharks play the Lions at Ellis Park... It is like a home match for The Sharks!! There are plenty of Sharks supporters here. biggrin.gif

On a side note... The Crusaders are 5th, 1 point behind the Bulls WITH a game in hand....
Heir_of_Isildur
The Crusaders are again the team to fear. They were good without Carter et al... now they're invincible tongue.gif
CyberStorm
Good point heir, but the Sharks have already beaten them! They could be a handful if they reach the semis!

THE SAiNT
Back in the days of the Super12, the Sharks were the only team to ever get to the finals. They lost against the Brumbies 36 - 6, if memory serves me correctly.
It seems as though this year we might get there again.

Go Team Go.

Adieu
CyberStorm
Saint, you would be correct!

The Sharks have reached two Super 12 finals.

The first time was in 1996, when the lost to the Blues! Final Score (45-21)
The second was in 2001, against the Brumbies! Final Score (36-6)

Interestingly, both times the Sharks played away from home!

I would love to see them in action at home for this year's semi's and final! smile.gif
cyfermaster
Well, they are looking good so far for at least a semi. If the stormers can beat the blues, and the sharks beat the Chiefs they will go into second spot. Would be nice if they can get a bonus point this week, then we will be second even if the blues lose and get a bonus point. smile.gif
cyfermaster
Go Sharks. They almost there. However, this weekend has got to be 1 of the most exciting weekends in Super 14 rugby ever. I mean nobody is guaranteed a spot in the Semis yet. Yes the Crusaders should make it, but if certain things happen they could be knocked out... If certain results go certain ways either 1 of the Sharks or the Bulls could finish TOP!! WOW. Don't think an SA team has ever been this close to finishing top. Obviously I am hoping the Sharks beat the Stormers. smile.gif GO TEAM. This will insure them a home semi. If the crusaders then lose. Sharks stand a chance of a home FINAL. WOW, can't wait for this weekends games. clap.gif
CyberStorm
I can't wait either. Looking forward to the Sharks vs Stormers.

This isn't going to be a pushover for the sharks, but at least the Stormers will be without a few Springboks (who will be rested in accordance to an agreement made with Jake White at the start of the seaon).

Sharks FTW and a home semi and FINAL!!!!!!!
cyfermaster
Right, so it is getting close to 1 exciting weekend. smile.gif

Sharks vs Blues @ HOME.
Bulls vs Crusaders @ HOME.

A nice first that is. smile.gif Well done to the Sharks for being the first SA team to finish top of the log after 13 matches. clap.gif There should be some good rugby played this weekend. biggrin.gif
CyberStorm
Indeed cyfer! I am really looking forward to the Sharks/Blues game. Lets hope all that travelling makes the mighty Blues a diminished power! smile.gif
cyfermaster
Yeah, I will be hoping for that. smile.gif
CyberStorm
I tried to get company tickets (but they dont cover semi-finals and finals) and I dont have time to get to the ground to buy tickets. So I guess I'll have to settle for watching the game on TV (which isnt that bad really) smile.gif
cyfermaster
I can't drive down this weekend. sad.gif Was there for the lions vs sharks game though. clap.gif smile.gif

Will try make it to the finals.
hunter
I'm happy to say I was wrong, finally a SA team will win tongue.gif
cyfermaster
pity we didn't take a bet. tongue.gif haha.

GO SHARKS.

must try get tickets. Anyone who has and can't use them, send them my way please. biggrin.gif
CyberStorm
This Saturday's final is going to be a cracker. I can't wait!!

Sharks Forever...... smile.gif
THE SAiNT
So here we are with the battle lines drawn. I'm really hoping for an exciting game !

To The Sharks I'd like to say the following :

Thank you for an exceptional Super14. You made me proud to be a Shark. Today is your day, so go out and play the game like I know you can.

My prediction »

The Sharks - 27
Bulls - 23

We lost, so natuarally we started drinking. drunk.gif

We won, so we continued drinking, and then Man Utd lost, so we drowned our sorrows...

God bless you though, Brian Habana. biggrin.gif
cyfermaster
Well Done Bulls. clap.gif

Although you had a lot of help from the touchies and the crap ref. tongue.gif

QUOTE

and add Steve Walsh to that for not sending him off in the first 10 minutes. What a shocking "tackle". Then Spies gets a "Last talking to". er.... surely that came after the first crap tackle the bulls made. oh well, it is over and the Bulls are the champions. clap.gif

I am still proud of my Sharks. biggrin.gif WELL DONE TEAM for an exceptional year.
Heir_of_Isildur
If he had sent him off it would have spoilt the game totally, so I'm quite glad that he wasn't sent off (not that I give a damn who won the final).

I can just see thousands of Bulls fans getting copies of the photo of Habana diving over the line!
Paul
and why wasnt Habana carded for his tackle on percy ?
Heir_of_Isildur
Because Steve Walsh didn't think it would be good for the game tongue.gif
cyfermaster
So it makes it fine, because it was the final. "Let's take out 1 of the sharks major players so we can win the game." It is BS. He should have been sent, and that is that. Just because it is a final, doesn't mean the rules should be different. If anything, they should be applied sterner.

It happened in the CL final last year with Arsenal.

lol

I'm hearing alot of this with regard to uniterd too today tongue.gif

Percy was fine...
W@RP@T}{
Not the point that tackle certainly deserved a yellow card
cyfermaster
QUOTE
Percy was fine...

He was fine, yes. But he wasn't himself on the field. How many times has he come off this season? He most likely would have converted that last try, which would have put the game beyond the bulls. Just because someone is fine, doesn't mean another person shouldn't be sent off.

You tried to shoot and kill me, but I lived. You don't need to go to jail...
Gitano
Hang on, what about....
Bulls final try, the ball was blatantly knocked on coming out of the ruck, the ref didnt see it, ok I cant fault him for that, but then he pressed his finger to his eat like the TMO was telling him something, then ignored it, and allowed the try.....

Conspiracy theory?
Shit refereeing?

Your choice.

Personally, if a sharks player had made the tackle that habana did on percy, I would have had no problem whatsoever with him being given a yellow. No problem at all. I think it was a terrible decision to allow that to slide, and I think it just set the tone for the whole game. Despite that though, I really did like the way the ref played the game, other than that decision, I cant fault him at all.
cyfermaster
QUOTE
I cant fault him at all.
He missed A LOT on both sides, yes I will admit he missed some of the sharks obstructive running (in fact he blew it once - and that was for accidental offsides). The crucial calls he missed though. He has apparently apologised for missing the knock on. er... doesn't help now buddy boy, the wrong team has the trophy cause of that miss. Sorry won't take the trophy to the Sharks. sad.gif

Also, he gave a warning after the Habana tackle.... then spies and and bakkies make bad tackles and then spies gets a FINAL warning... Hang on, didn't they get the final warning for the habana tackle? hmmm.....

Anyways, it is done. Debates will go on for a while. Such is life. Credit where credit is due.... the Bulls didn't give up, and they played till the final whistle. I am not only going to blame the loss on reffing mistakes...

Butch James was a dumbass for kicking the ball away (and then Steyn too) with less than a minute. Keep the ball, run and get tackled. Create a ruck. Scrummy can come, then ask the ref how much time is left. Ahh, 30 seconds. give the ball to a forward and let him get tackled. form another ruck. How much time is left mr ref? 15 seconds. ahh okay. give the ball to another forward and do the same. How much time left mr ref? time is up scrummy. Thanks ref. *KICK BALL OUT* Sharks win. tadaaaaa. If that had been done, there wouldn't be arguments over the knock on, forward passes and obstructive running.

Agreed, if that was my best mate that made that tackle, I would tell him to his face that he deserved at THE VERY LEAST to get a yellow.

Just because you'll say it, doesn't mean I have to buy it.

Steve Walsh is probably the best SANZAR referee and I'm glad he didn't send Habana off.

You and every Bulls supporter too. He is normally pretty good, that day he wasn't.

You don't have to. Everyone who knows me, knows I would. Doesn't bother me if you believe me or not. smile.gif

Hahaha, yeah I'm with cyfer, I don't need you to believe me to know how I feel.

Heir_of_Isildur
I'm not a Bulls supporter btw. I just support SA teams in general.
Carrots
Even though the bulls are winners, their supporters are still a bunch of losers tongue.gif
cyfermaster
I didn't say you were a bulls supporter HoI. I just said that all the Bulls supporters were also happy that the H-man wasn't sent off. smile.gif
