Wow for 1k I would rather fork out a little bit more and get myself the Zalman 600W... awesome little psu that!

Least this way you'll get future upgradability clap.gif

RustPuppet
Out of that list the Liberty is the best quality, but as Fishy says, you should be looking around 700W or so to plan for future upgrades.

I got the Aopen 700W and am pretty happy with it.

Had the OCZ 700W poerstream, AWESOME PSU but heavy schpensive!!!!

value for money the Aopen is your best bet.
Fishfly
Actually as I iterated AOPEN may seem cheap and good for value BUT if you ever decide for the top range cards... AOPEN will not cut it, if you decide to SLI AOPEN WILL not cut it

Yes the OCZ is pretty awesome and rated to do SLI of the 7900-> 8800 range but it's very expensive.

If you can get a coolermaster 800W psu then it'll be able to handle any current generation SLI's
RustPuppet
Try this 1kw OCZ monster, best of both worlds drool.gif
Fishfly
lol with a price tag of 4k? I think not tongue.gif but ya that is a nice psu drool.gif

W@RP@T}{
drool.gif Damn nice, but almost the cost of an upgrade sad.gif

so sad!

Fish I don't think he's going for huge 8800GTX's LOL so he doesn't need that much on the rails
cyfermaster
my AOpen works fine. No problemos with it at all. biggrin.gif
W@RP@T}{
Exactly smile.gif

So value for performance I do recommend the 700W A-open, Ralph (RRA) Top overclocker in SA swears by them, he even said it provides more juice than the OCZ and he had both.

I don't think so tongue.gif but when you pay 3K for a PSU you have to justify the moolah somehow smile.gif

700W AOpen FTW, especially for that setup.

The MAHJORITEEEEEE wins. clap.gif

that aopen handled my 7800gtx's in sli (when they were top range cards) pretty easily - even when overclocked - was the only psu able to do so at the time

thing is that zalman 600watter you recommended above would fall far short in this respect as well - most psu's that will handle current top graphics cards in sli or crossfire all cost above R3k - so in terms of that if the guy is going to run only one top end card the aopen is absolutely spot on in terms of price/performance - both the ocz gamextream and the aopen are identical fortron designs - so the only major difference would be in features and maybe construction quality - with the ocz having the better in this respect - but for the price of the OCZ you can get two aopens and run them together if you can get a case that allows this

forgot to mention that the antecs would work nicely in the setup above - but i still have reservations about using those antecs with that particular mobo even though they say the problems are fixed - the aopen handles my system perfectly - only difference is that i have the same mobo with a 4800+ instead of a 3800+ and a single 7800gtx (sold one from the sli pair recently so that i could save up toward a DX10 card)
Fishfly
lol naughty you merged two posts into 1 tongue.gif

I recommended the zalman before I started talking about the AOPEN, and when that happened I moved over to the Coolermaster 800W biggrin.gif

I have a Antec truepower Trio (replaced from the antec truepower 2.0) cos my 5V died on me sad.gif and I must say it's still a decent PSU

i was commenting on the entire thread - since i had just started reading it from the top

anyways - in his circumstances id say that the aopen is a good bet in terms of price - cos that coolermaster 800w that you recommend is probably twice the price

the antecs are nice - but ive been using them mainly for intel systems nowadays - because i still had problems with antec and the asus a8n32 sli deluxe - which is the identical mobo that he is using and even though the problems are supposedly fixed i personally wouldnt risk it anymore - i lost 40 gigs of data due to incompatible hardware with this mobo - other supects are seagate drives prior to the 7200.10 series and also ram thats not on the compatibility list for that mobo - its very fussy - so why i say that for me id rather avoid seagate drives and antec psu's with that particular mobo
