Ok so what I am looking for:

- A home theatre surround sound system.
- I dont want a PC 5.1 surround sound thingy.
- I dont want to blow away the neighbours but it must be able to play MUSIC loud. I know some dont do well with music and are better suited to TV etc.
- Looking at spending between R1000-R2000.
- I need to be able to connect my PC and DVD player to it so need multiple inputs.
- Must have surround sound and sub.
- Also not so keen on huge speakers

Um yeah so thats all, anyone got any experience with this? Any suggestions?

I have a sansui set

1 center speaker and 4 surrounds, with a woofer with integrated amp.

decent bass and the entire set came with a sansui dvd player as well

The 4 surrounds are the tall thin uprights.

I have everything plugged into it, my playtime media player, playstation and dstv

It was just under R3k

The logitech Z5500, it may be a PC Thingy but those speakers seriously rock for their size. I had the older Z680's

I am personally in love with the BOSE Acoutimass surround sound! As thjey are deep bassy and compact. But are really expensive! You might want to look at the mid end Sony and Panosonics

bose is junk - it doesnt have a seperate tweeter and midwoofer - tjey normally build their demo rooms so that the acoustics are enhanced - so basically when you put it into your room it sounds like the junk it is - conclusion : bose is junk

and yes before anyone asks what i have is tons better than bose

i'm not really fond of bose

and ever since watching "click" I am even more convinced that bose sucks

I don't really know why you guys hate bose so much! But i have no issues with them as they give good quality sound and for me they are ideal for my home theater! But you are entitled to your own opinion

Bose isn't bad, they do make some decent stuff but for the price you can get much better.

Another vote for Bose being crap over here.

I tried out a pair of their headphones recently and was amazed at how unimpressive they were for their ridiculous pricetag.

Agreed but i got mine free! I won it in some raffle so for me it was very good value for money

All I know about Bose is that their R3000 ipod speaker system sounds like my R250 5-year-old creative speakers.

I went for the Logitech Z5400 and they quite honestly kick ass Very happy customer here!

I loove Logitech, they make some seriously nice speakers...

yeah - id take them for free - but if i had to pay for them i wouldnt want them - i think that the raffle ticket was worth it for getting those speakers for free

indeed value for money - but if you had to pay for them even the R4k logitechs would sound better than an R8k bose setup

Those little logitechs are actually really nice sounding speakers!!! for their size they seriously kick ass and will whip the BOSE 30K Acoutimas one

you all say BOSE suck, so be it! I still love my system and for me they give a damn good sound performance and it only cost me BD 2 ($5 US)



i wouldn't BUY a BOSE! But getting one for almost free is good 4 me
