I think we are even stevens with regards to having a bad captain
Agreed!
Kallis and Prince did SA proud.
They way they absorbed pressure when Mohammad Asif was going great guns was a lesson that everyone else in the team should learn from!
At 30 odd for 4 I was beginning to think that we might lose the match and with it the series.
Sending Harris in as the nightwatchmen was actually a good thing -> It prevented a top order batsmen from losing his wicket!
We should also not look as this victory in isolation. Remember that Pollock and Gibbs didnt play.
Despite that we still managed to keep the bowling fairly tight and managed to get Pakistan out cheaply in both innings.
We won the match despite the rubbish batting from Boeta, AB and Hashim.
We also didnt play on "traditional South African pitches" and still managed to win back-to-back test series.
6 tests n 7 weeks is no easy ask. The ICC must make sure this never happens again. Funny, though, how things like this only seen to happen to South Africa!
I still believe Smith should not be captain. He should be replaced but should remain in the team as he is good enough to be there on merit alone!!
Kallis in form with both bat and ball = pure ownage.
Prince - will be king!! His technique isnt as flawless as Kallis but I can see him filling left by Kallis once the great man retires. Prince was brilliant and should be part of the test setup for years to come.
AB's form is terrible. He should be dropped and be made to work on his form before being re-called to the test setup.
Boeta reminded us all why he is the yo-yo man of South African test cricket. But to be fair to him, he was under enormous pressure to perform with the bat.
Hashim Amla had a decent series but he had a poor 3rd test. He probably deserves to stay in the team but only by a hairs breath.
Ntini was on song taking 19 wickets in the series. Brilliant, but he still needs to develop a "slower" ball.
Harris found the goings a little tougher this time round. He did not make as big an impact against Paklistan as he did against India. But he's still learning, and can only get better with both bat and ball!
Hall is another yo-yo man. I was not entirely convinced by his performance especially with the ball. But he is a gritty player and an all-rounder to boot.
Boucher was as reliable as ever although his keeping was up to standard at times. He is getting older now, though and will make the odd mistake or two. His batting is a valuable asset to the proteas.
To conclude, I enjoyed the Pakistan test series.
We can all now look forward to a great ODI series.
Heres hoping we get testing right down to the wire -> To simulate CWC conditions.
PROTEAS FTW!!!!!!!!!!!
