Hello everyone.

I put this here, seeing as most people will use them for the Internet, be it broadband or dial-up... ermm.gif

The contact number for NEOTEL is.....

011 8006217

Make sure they add you to the database, so they will call you back.

They are looking at implementing dsl etc... to the normal consumer in April (Told you April was a great month)
rurounikenshin
Awesome!

I'll phone them tomorrow!
docmoo
too bad they will probably only cater for the main areas for a long time before they care about us in the south of jhb sad.gif
Paul
its like iburst all over again moo
cyfermaster
Only it's not wireless. sad.gif tongue.gif
Paul
anyone got an idea of their pricing yet?
cyfermaster
I am not sure. Neglected to ask them, but I recall reading in another thread that the pricing won't be too different from that of Telkoms... Hope that was wrong. Even if it isn't, I will still go with them.
Paul
yeah I remember something like that ":/

that sucks
rurounikenshin
If the service is better I'd pay more...

I'll be mocing over to Neotel (after the teething problems are sorted) based purely on the fact that I abhor telkom. evil.gif
rurounikenshin
I am on "The List"!!!

Woohoo!

I told them how glad I was that they've come to save us from Telkom!

I'm switching over with an ADSL line straight away. I'll live through the teething problems just to stop Telkom getting my money!

Roll on April!

Death to Telkom!
millennia
lol

Telkom may not be getting ur money directly but remember that NeoTel will be paying Telkom for the use of their infrastructure. You pay NeoTel, NeoTel pays Telkom dry.gif

Paul
I will give neotel 2 yars before I move over

Nope...

Neotel is using fibre laid by Eskom.

They are totally seperate from Telkom.

THANK GOD!
CyberStorm
I wont be swicthing from Telscum just yet!

I'd like to give Neotel a few months to iron out any teething problems first before taking the plunge!

That being said, I read somewhere that Neotel are taking so long to offer their residential services because they want to make sure they have a good quality, reliable network first with as few problems as possible before they go live!!
millennia
And how exactly do you plan on getting through the SAT 5 cable without paying Telkom?

Internet via Satellite? Good luck with that dry.gif
Paul
millennia is right, even a company like IS, who has an existing infrastructure thats MUCH larger than neotel's still pays telkom to acess the outside world.

They said that they'd only be offering to residential at the end of the 1st quarter.
They're concentrating on businesses from large to small first.

I am hoping that this will help them iron out some of the problems?

But yeah, might be better to wait a while.

dude that's the local loop for international you need to pay teleskum for their SAT 3 undersea cabling to the states/uk/etc

so until the fucking government decides to losen it's grip on that we'll never see any competition that we are hoping for sad.gif

as for our pricing? Monoco is beating us hands down... what does teleskum have to say to defend themselves now? we comparing 3rd world country to 3rd world country now!
millennia
OT but yar, has anybody actually ever seen this SAT cable?

We were talking about it at work the other day and some of the guys were like, "That's an effing long cable, how do they fix it if it has a break in the middle?" and "You do know how deep the ocean gets in places right?"

So my challenge, find pics of it tongue.gif

SAIX has some interesting diagrams showing the cable layout in greater detail:
