Howzit. i have a 1999 Opel Kadett Euro, 200ISE. I've been having trouble with it in that while driving the engines loses revs and cuts off. Starts up again thereafter. I did a diagnostic test on it and it came up that there could be a crank sensor problem. Well, changed the crank sensor to a new one and the problem is still there. Is this possibly a petrol relay problem? How on earth do you find out 'cos i took it to Delta and I'm so ready to klap the mechanics. They have no idea themselves. Its like I have to tell them what to check!
What are the problems that could cause this?
Thx biggrin.gif
Paul
I think the problem would be that you are driving an Opel sad.gif

lol , seriously, wait forone of the other more experienced car fundis to see this message and reply
Valheru
Try disabling the security system and check if it still doing the same.

And Rush, there is nothing wrong with driving an Opel tongue.gif
RustPuppet
Opel OPC ftw!
Wolf
Does it loose revs before cutting out, or does it cut out and you then think it is losing revs?

If it loses revs and then cuts out, it is probably the feul pump, situated in the tank

If it just cutts out is probably the security system

yeah it could be that. Anti Hijacking or Tracker thingies could cause this type of thing. In my experience that is.
Paul
yep, the solution would be to disable the anti hijack and alarm and leave your keys in the ignition and go shopping for an hour sad.gif

ok, I really hate opel, cause I drove a kadett

oi...nothing wrong with an Opel...just that the mechanics are dof. And OPC does rock!

It does lose revs first and then cut off. Also, will confirm this, but I think it happens more frequently when the engine is heating up. Which again points to the ac pump. But will check on the anti-hijack stuff too.

Thx guys! It helps a lot. biggrin.gif

Now all I have to go do is kill the delta mechanic who made me shelve out R1400 for the crank sensor thumbdown.gif
Paul
I'd rather push my diahatsu than drive an opl ever again. gave me endless headaches.

Surely you can ask for that back, seeing as it hasn't sorted out the problem....
Paul
nah, they will find a way to say that the problem was related.

when I drove a beemer, I replaced the fan and cowling three times, because the fan spun at a weird angle and hit the cowling and broke it. They then found out it was caused by the water pump (which sits just behind the fan) and did not refund me for the 1st fan and cowling. nor did they compensate me for not finding the fault first time.

I complained to BM head office and they basically told me to get lost. Hene why I doubt Iwill ever buy another beemer ever again.

Best advice I can give is to sell teh Opel and buy a VW...

But I'm not biased or anything... he he

You're right. We did a Bosch diagnostic test on it which picked up the problem. Took it to Delta and their systems picked up nothing. Tried it twice. So we took the sensor back the next day for a refund and they refused flat out. They said it was already ordered. Service sucks big time.

Got nothing against VW's...i just wouldnt buy one punk.gif

It seems like it is the fuel pump cos the anti hijack was disabled a while ago.

Just another off-the-topic question....sorry...has anyone ever tried that Worldspace receiver for cars? Some say it works, some say it doesnt cos you lose signal as the car moves around.

We're lucky in South Africa in that we have a world class construction industry and relatively cheap labour.

I believe the stadiums will be ready in time for the Confederations Cup in 2009.

I'm not so optimistic about the safety of the tourists though!

But as lobo said, It will probably be done but at great financial cost to the citizens of SA.

yeah sounds like the highpressure pump.

best advice .... buy a VW biggrin.gif

stop trying to convert me shuriken.gif i'll give the opel a few more tries and then maybe biggrin.gif

thx for the advice
Gitano
Trek is a much better option. 24 speed, only two tired that could possibly get punctures, and the engine noise decreases with frequency of use.
cyfermaster
Use liners and slime and you should be fine. tongue.gif haha
Gitano
Suicidal there Cyfer?
cyfermaster
no. Put the liners in your tires, and put slime in it too. The liners stop quite a few punctures, and the slime seals those that you do get.
Meerascorp
changed the pump. seems to be sorted now. thanks a million X a million guys punk.gif
