While I do more often than not play the modern games, the classics are the ones that will always be dear to my heart. I am talkign about stuff like Spartan X, Ikari Warriors, Pinball, Pacman, Robocop, Street Fighter, etc, etc, etc.

Modern games are highly focused on hardcore graphics and sound, and to me that also tends to take away the focus from some good story telling.

Now, while the classics like Spartan X had very little story to them, they were still highly enjoyable games. Their simpicity worked for them.

So, which games do you prefer, and just for record purposes, please state your current age when you reply.

I am 33 (34 soon)

While I am more of a contemporary gamer, I like games with substance and story, splinter cell ftw!

hmmm, a little of both. I was thinking the other day that games have lost that edge, whereby I could spend hours even day playing something basic like asteroids or arkanoid although these days I wouldn't play these games for any length of time.

I think other than Oblivion the Tower Defence, Flash Elements TD, Master of defence games, I have played these more than any other game.

Sad I know tongue.gif productivity has died LOL

here's the flash elements one

I play games, period.

Even today I still play games like Mortal Combat, Paperboy, Carmageddon and the games I have on MAME.
I play games be it on XBOX360, PC , Gameboy Advance...

I was born a gamer !

Must say that I don't really play a huge amount of games anymore.
Getting old...

I do enjoy the games we get nowadays. I think Oblivion kept me busy for 3 months {not done with it yet}.
But every now en then a good old blast is fun no doubt. The Original UT is still a fav.

Voted for contemporary, but I play just about everything to be honest. My favourite games remain the older ones though.
CyberStorm
Classic or comtemporary?

I refuse to pick a side.

There are some older games that will always be near and dear to me.

On the other hand there are some modern games that I absolutely love.

Much like the saint, to this day, if I enjoy a game (old or new) I play it!!! smile.gif

I will go with cyber at the moment, i am a bit of both. For me i play noew games likle Warcraft and NFS; Carbon, but i also play some really old games such as Tib Sun; Firestorm and Diablo 1 (beleive it or not).

At the moment gaming companies are focusing too much on graphics and sound and not on gameplay or storyline (look at Counterstrike Source). I go with games partly for graphcis and sound, but mainly for playability.

So i am both!

Tough to choose so I'll say both. I still love to pick up the classics but some of the newer games are just really well done.

Contemporary gamer. Like games that have a story. But hate games the will not let you skip movie scenes.

i cant decide

but i have to say that the older games had a different 'feel' to them that i wish the new ones did ... maybe it was because you had to use your imagination so much with the older graphix i dunno .. but when i think of old games like kings quest, the quest for glories, even morrowind, ect it gives me a warm fuzzy feeling in my tummy. The humour in the older games i also miss. unsure.gif

i guess i do like the classic games more rolleyes.gif

I have shunned the new games and have actually built up a Windows 98 machine with a 64MB GForce2 to play the older games.

I have also started seeking out legacy games such as quake 1 and 2, Duke Nukem 3D.

I am currently on the hunt for Blood and Thief - The Dark Project.

Hehe.

Fancy graphics and no gameplay or replay value is kind of useless to me.

Thief - The Dark Project.

Man that game was awesome. The sequel was pretty good as well. The third one, pretty shitty - especially the ending. I mean, I am supposed to struggle at the end in order to finish a game, but with that one, it was like, "What? That it? I am done with the game"?
