The next Liberty LAN is happening next Saturday 20 Jan, so I thought I’d get a few more V9 recruits to come along.

I gave up on Mayhem in favour of Liberty since there are more active gamers (and less Magic players and other such crap), and of course no ban on DC++ biggrin.gif

Entrance is R50 and there's plenty of secure parking, with all the major fast food places nearby.

Check out LanGames if you want to come along, would be cool to see some forum people there.

i have a kiddies party in the morning, and a braai that afternoon.

I am keen to lan again, havent lanned in a while (although we do play quake at work)

RustPuppet
Well it goes on through the night so see what time you finish smile.gif
Munch
Ive been doing mayhem for a while now and yeah its turn into a magic card fest which is not my kind of a lan. But most of the ppl i know go to mayhem " some of them are the card noobies"
*ashamed* tongue.gif

Well the reason I go to LANs is to play games and to leech (c'mon, we all do it tongue.gif), and Mayhem has gone seriously downhill since it was taken over by Magic/DotA and DC++ was banned.
Paul
small house lans are the best.
I am moving to a new small place in Kyalami next month and will be sure to host a lan or 10
cyfermaster
Hopefully I will be invited. My 1 goal for the year is to make at least 1 lan. smile.gif

I wish I was in JHB. You guys have LAN's every weekend!

Here in Durban a really good LAN happens only once in a while!

Munch
Yea well the DotA takeover i dont mind cause im 1 of those Uber Dota ppl hehe.
But right after the dc++ ban mayhem was very quiet its starting to pick up again now but theres not much variety its Dota or teh odd unreal/quake game.

dc++ ban

Huh?
RustPuppet
DC++ was banned from Mayhem for usurping bandwidth.

No such problem at Liberty, with a full house every month and plenty of gigabit connections to keep things running smoothly.

Any more people interested? Will be nice to meet a few of the forum-goers.
Paul
well thats the only reason why I went to mayhem anyway, was to leech.

I reckon I must organise a leechfest/lan at my new place asap!
cyfermaster
I agree. smile.gif Just wait till I have purchased another HDD. tongue.gif I will bring chips. smile.gif
Munch
HMmmm maybe next month ill ask the buddies if they wanna try liberty Instead of Mayhem More games and less cards would be nice smile.gif
RustPuppet
Yeah Munchious it's definitely better value for your cash.

Otherwise Paul must get his shit together and we can all LAN at his place biggrin.gif

I prefer the small home/no price tag lan's as everyone that goes want's to get a decent game time and not sit on 1 single game the entire evening...

quiet frankly I'm tired of people that just sit there leeching and nothing else. At least set your leeching to 10kb and come kill a couple of people.

as for DOTA I find it rather irratating hearing little kiddies shout/screaming/swearing at the other person across the room, what fun is it doing the same thing *run to the middle kill or be killed* for 2 straight hours only to redo the same thing over again...

cyfermaster
Why not make a time for leeching. i.e. We game for 4 hours, and then leech for an hour while everyone eats?
RustPuppet
Just to let everyone know, the LAN was a great success. There were more spots made available so there must've been around 250 people there, which made for some awesome gaming/leeching.

Also, Sahara will now be attending all future LANs, giving away free stuff and showcasing new products. We got to play on the first Intel quad core in SA which was quite cool, plus we scored free t-shirts and other bits 'n pieces.

Oh, and every hub is now gigabit which made for some really full HDDs (even before lunchtime) tongue.gif

Hope to see more V9 people next time.
cyfermaster
Nice to hear all that. Let us know when the next one is and I am sure some more people will try make it there. I will, if I am not too busy with sport or work. sad.gif
