well you could start by making sure that your phone never touches water.

That aside the best thing to do would be to switch off the phone (provided it hasn't shorted) DON'T EVEN DARE TRYING TO SWITCH IT BACK ON!
Then dismantle the phone as fast as possible.

Here's the absurd part :

Rinse your phone with water.

Why? well depending on what type of water your phone was exposed to, you could find yourself with a corrosive problem. ESPECIALLY if it was sea / salty water and rinsing it is your best option.

DO NOT use tap water. rather boil the kettle and let it cool or use distilled water or spring water.

Use a chamois or any absorbant cloth and dab away any visible water.

Try not to shake the shit out of your phone as that could probably damage it more than the water could (especially if it departs from your hand, mid shake, and decides to have a close look at the wall.)

Use a hair dryer on low heat to blow away any water. move the hair dryer from side to side quickly so that heat does not build up which could loosten soldered parts (nothing worse than dry joints)

Leave the phone over night ( don't charge it over night) I mean leave it dismantled overnight preferably in a well ventilated place.

Then hopefully it works.

The above saved my phone after it went into the wash with my jeans. (heavy duty cycle, extra rinse)

If the above does not work, but you did manage to remove any trace of water chances are you could still go to the manufacturer (not the dealer) and get the phone replaced by acting dumb and saying "I got no idea what happened, it was working this morning."

My Samsung D900 lasted 1 week before I dived into the pool with it and swam for about an hour. I then took it out my pocket and some stoopid bitch tried turning it on repeatedly while I continued to swin and she was supposed to be drying it with a hairdryer

I makes a smart looking paperweight now though.

Do I know this lady? Ladies generally only know how to do one thing with a hair dryer, and that is their hair. sad.gif

Thanks for the nice post Krow. I always stick to the very first line of your post though. Just in case, I will remember all of the above. smile.gif

Some time ago, my Motorola V3 dropped into the toilet bowl. It wasn't too messy though.
I fished it out with my hands, washed it out with clean water. Remove the battery, remove the battery cover
and air dry it for a fews days. It worked well after that.

Electronics are pretty hardy nowadays.

TIP: Avoid putting your cellphone in your pants pocket. They may slipped out when you least expect it.

Or you may walk into Witbank dam while launching a boat with it in there. laugh.gif

Talking from experience there cyfer?

I did something similar, except I was thrown into a pool with my old brick, and erricson, cant remember the model, but it was huge, and I had just got it for Christmas.
Dried out, worked again, but the time would never stay put, I had to reset the time every couple of hours sad.gif
Paul
how did you know that the time was wrong?
Gitano
Bwhahaha.
When the sun is going down, and the phone says that its 12:00, you kinda get a hint.

Nothing beats the absolute Rambo qualities of the 5110!

Remember those? You could ride over them in a hummer, they would still work!
cyfermaster
hehe. the 5110. Man the older phones have a much better battery life than the new ones. I am currently using a 6310, as my N70 is getting software upgraded. The 6310's battery just won't die, as apposed to having to charge the N70 weekly, sometimes twice. sad.gif
Gitano
Your lucky man, a friend of mines N70 needs to be charged every 2 days!
Mine is still holding out alright, averaging about 8 days, depending on how much I use it.
