I don't have a flovour yet. I am still in the stage of deciding which one to install. I have a spare machine at home doing nothing, and am going to install Linux on it, just not sure which one. Maybe I will go for the most popular one here.

Im at the same phase as cyfer. I heard ubuntu is popular, and easy enough for first timers to get used to.

I have also heard that about ubuntu. Maybe that is the one to go with first?

I personally havent used Ubuntu, but from what I read on the net its one of the best distros available and easy enough for first-timers to use. Also, give Knoppix a try. Its my favourite distro at the moment and a pleasure to setup and use. I find myself using it more and more even though I have a beefy Suse 10 distro nestled quietly on one of my HDD's.

If you are going to post such a thread make sure that you have all the decent distro's in it... ie: GENTOO! Given that Gentoo is an individual distro...

Oh...I forgot about Gentoo. Thanks for adding it to the list!

Hi,
I dual boot Ubuntu and Windows XP on my desktop system.
Ubuntu is extremely easy to use IMHO. It's got the full feature set of GUIs and has almost all command line operations with a GUI interface. Ubuntu and Debian are similar in many ways, if that narrows it down by 10 %
Good luck!
