Maximum i'm prepared to pay is R3500 - R4000... If I can get one cheaper than that it will be a blessing!!
I'm a student so i'll be using it to type notes, read cases etc, (i would need a foldable keyboard with it), it must have internet access (very important because i work as well and thats how i get contacted the most) and must have memory expansion capabilities...
Any ideas on what would be the best product to buy?

Rather go for a small laptop, it will still have more power and is much more user friendly than a PDA. I have a PDA2K and although it's useful it's still not the real deal.

I have a laptop already... thing is, I dont want to carry something that big around with me. I travel from home to campus and back on the bus so its a bit dangerous for me to carry it around. I have to go to court in between lectures which means I'm up and down most times and I dont want to carry a laptop around with me all the time.
Something small, lightweight, efficient and useful.. thats what I want... I probably wont use it to type notes with that much... I actually prefer hand writing notes anyway...
i've read about the hp rx1955.. its looks good and stuff.. and i like it... but i'm not really clued up about these things and i dont want to buy something if its not worth it.. then i rather stay without one

It's the best
You should be able to pick one up in your pricerange secondhand, for what you are wanting to do with it, I wouldn't go for anything else.
