QUOTE
Pietermaritzburg - Bob Skinstad, the charismatic former Springbok captain, has signed with the Sharks and will arrive in Durban on Thursday.

The 30-year-old Skinstad has been based in England, playing club rugby for Richmond, but he hopes to play his way into the Sharks Super 14 side on his way to selection for the World Cup in France next year.

His signing was welcomed by a delighted Dick Muir.

"It is absolutely fantastic news," said the Sharks coach late on Wednesday. "He is a great asset, a wonderful chap, a born leader and a unique athlete. He will be a real asset to the Sharks.

I don't know so much about this. I think he has gone past his prime. However, being a sharks supporter, I hope he hasn't and that he will play like his former glory days. smile.gif

He just better stay sober and not crash any cars. tongue.gif

I think we have too many loose forwards in this country. We have enough quality amongst our current crop of players (Danie Rossouw and Juan Smith). Does it send out a negative message to younger players that play in the Currie Cup and S14?

I also think Bob Skinstad is beyond his prime. It was also interesting to note in the last match between the Springboks and the World XV, that Cobus Visagie did not dominate any of our props, as much as he did in the same match earlier in the year.
