I code primarily in PHP and know some Javascript. I notice a lot of people looking for ASP.net coder in my area and always wonder why people choose to develop this way. Can you tell me why you sometimes is C#? PHP hosting is cheap and the support for PHP is huge. I am not picking a fight, but more wondering how to convince myself to experiment more with this language?

In my opinion yes. I have read articles in my plethora of Java books that document the job percentages / slices of the various language positions as a profession and Java has a lot more. I know I will be flamed about this but I am only saying what I read.

On a personal note - I do notice a lot of .net, ASP, C# etc job positions for some reason. I am highly against C# as it is an entire rip off of Java - Microsoft had to pay Sun Microsystems a sum in the millions of USD because Sun proved that Microsoft designed the initial Windows XP JVM to execute Java code inefficiently - making their almost carbon copy (and stolen Java code, but add their own needless things) C# run better in comparison.

I really don't understand why anyone would go for C# instead of Java but I guess it is a decision based on the individual's knowledge and research. Such users are, however, tied to Microsoft and C# is not even cross-platform, which was the whole point of Java.

Best wishes
