U2 is planning to release its first 3-D concert film next year, says The Hollywood Reporter.

The untitled feature is being directed by Catherine Owens and Mark Pellington. In conjunction with the film's anticipated mid- to late-2007 debut, U2 also might take part in the first live 3-D performance projected in theaters nationwide.

For the film, Owens and Pellington shot more than 700 hours of footage with the band in seven South American cities during February and March. Trekking across Argentina, Mexico, Chile and Brazil, the film's 3-D director of photography Peter Anderson ("T2 3-D: Battle Across Time") used nine pairs of Sony Cinealta 950 cameras to capture the band with swooping camera angles and kaleidoscopic imagery. The director of cinematography for the film's 2-D footage is Tom Krueger.

3ality Digital Entertainment, the project's producer, put together of the largest assemblages of 3-D camera technology ever used for a single project.

It is expected that the film will screen nationwide using the Real D technology in place by theaters screening the digital 3-D release of Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas in Disney Digital 3-D.

As a U2 fan, I sure am looking forward to this one. biggrin.gif

Here's hoping they play their good songs instead of the crap that they carry around now (with a few exceptions).

Are you only referring to How To Dismantle and the stuff released afterwards, or which albums exactly.

I enjoyed How To Dismantle (still do actually). It's not in the same league as The Joshua Tree (and I doubt they will EVER be able to top that), but hey, it sold over 10 000 000 copies, so millions more agree with me. tongue.gif

Yeah, How To Dismantle a bomb. It isn't horrible but it isn't good either. Feels very generic to me. All that you can't leave behind is a decent cd with ups and downs tongue.gif

I don't know the other cds, just have the two 'Best Of', the two latest ones and Joshua Tree.

You should get hold of Achtung Baby. That is also a classic U2 album. Unlike with the Pop and Zooropa albums, their experiments with different sounds paid off on that one. biggrin.gif

Any album of U2 you will hear that is U2. They got their own music style and the best in the world. Not a Supergroup for nothing my friends! I had tickets to go to U2 when they were here in '97 but on that day my dad passed away. I would also give both my tests for a golden circle ticket! Also went to Billy Joel's concert the other night! Was very good!
