Well Zidane and Materazzi have been given bans. banned.gif Since Zidane isn't playing football he suggested that he do some kind of community service, which Fifa agreed to. Both players were hit with a monetary fine, which is pocket change for them anyways.

I think it is good that both players were given some kind of punishment, but do think that Zidane should have got a heftier fine since he did behave slightly more out of place. Yes I know he was provoked, but it was still no reason to do what he did. I play top level sport and people try to provoke me. I don't go around bashing them. oh well......

Zidane suggested that he should do community service? Seriously?
cyfermaster
yeah he did.

QUOTE
As he is no longer a player, he offered to undertake three days of community service on FIFA's behalf as part of their humanitarian activities, which the committee accepted.

Thank you supersport.

Supersport is blocked from work today (like most days). How long is Mat's ban?

He has a 2 match ban. Zidane was given a 3 match ban, but is doing the community service instead. If I was Matterazzi, I would say I am retiring also, ask to do community service instead and then start playing football again after that. bleh.gif

Its quite sporting of him to actually accept punishment for this. He could quite easily just do nothing and laugh it off since he is already retired :\

Yeah it is, but maybe somewhere he is thinking he may get bored and would like to play a game of football again sometime, so thought this was the best thing to do? I don't think it was his decision anyways... I think someone in is "camp" said he should do that, as it would make him look a lot better. Anyways, it was a good gesture as he could just have decided to do nothing.

Booh, Zidane served justice the right way tongue.gif

Honestly I do not care about this, the worst thing that can happen to him is that they turn his 'performance' into a fun marketing thing and that will only bring more money into his pocket .What was that about bad publicity is still publicity?
