So as you all might have heard before the world cup Italian Soccer is currently under investigation for alleged Match Fixing scandal...

QUOTE
ROME, Italy (Reuters) -- Italy's biggest sports trial considered match-fixing charges against four top soccer clubs and 26 officials on Thursday before a string of procedural motions forced an adjournment until next Monday.

Champions Juventus, AC Milan, Fiorentina and Lazio, four of soccer-mad Italy's elite teams, risk being forced out of the nation's Serie A league and European competition if found guilty of conspiring with referees to rig matches.

So what are your views?

What would happen to the Top players of Juve and AC Milan???

Personally I would hope that Cannavaro would go to Man Utd along with Pirlo and Gattusso w00t.gif

what are your thoughts?

If AC Milan go to the 2nd division, I would hope the Big Boys stay there and get them back in to the Serie A again. They have enough money, so should do it for the love. biggrin.gif

cyfer jealously makes you nasty to make you vote that juve gets relagated 2 divisions tongue.gif

I voted like that on purpose trout, because it is all Juve's fault and I wanted a reaction out of you. In reality I don't think the players should be punished, and relegating Juve would be doing this. I think that they should stay in the Seire A, and they should get a HUGE fine, and the people involved should be fired, and not allowed to work in football again. Also the league should be awarded to AC. tongue.gif bleh.gif

On the one hand, yes, the punks involved in the match fixing should be fired. On the other hand, guilty teams getting relegated seems like a good punishment (but fuck, to Serie C?), since the beautiful game is made to look very ugly with such scandal...

Apart from finding Italian women drool.gif , i have no interest in this matter

IF found guilty, I voted Juve to get demoted to Serie C, all the people involved to get fired and that the other guilty teams to get demoted to Serie B.

You forgot one option in the vote though in my opinion. I would have added that any players that played an active role in the match-fixing (underperforming or whatever) should get banned from the game for life. These guys are so highly-paid that it's inexcusable for them to get involved in this type of behaviour.

They're a disgrace to the game, to the supporters and to themselves. Ban them for life.
It's only radical action like that that will make future players/managers/administrators think twice before getting involved in this tye of activity. I would even go so far as to say that all the individuals involved should be tried for fraud.

This isn't an attack on Italians or Italian football, I just think that that's the only way to ensure that this doesn't happen again. It would depress me for life, but if it happened in English football and Liverpool were involved, my feelings would be the same. Bruce Grobelaar was involved with this type of thing years ago and I never defended him, even though he was a childhood idol of mine growing up.

Do the crime, do the time.

Well it looks like (if reports/rumours are correct) that Juve, Lazio and Fiorentina are going down to Seire B and getting points taken away from them at the start of the season... Imagine starting with -20. sad.gif AC may be a little better off in that they will still be in Serie A, but starting on -15, AND they won't be allowed to compete in the Champions League. sad.gif Waiting to hear the actual verdict...

Man, that is heavy. Where did u get the info from?

I mean, they are gonna lose their top players, AND have to work their way up from Serie B with... well, a B-level team...

Urm firstly Juv only have 2 matchs in question... yet they got fined the hardest

Urm Cyfer the title would be awarded to Inter-Milan as they were placed third biggrin.gif

Here's the verdict sad.gif

Juventus, Lazio, and Fiorentina have been relegated from Serie A as a result of the match-fixing scandal.

AC Milan have avoided relegation, but will start next season with a 15-point deficit, and have had 44 points taken from their tally for the 2005-06 season.

Juventus have been stripped of their Serie A titles for each of the last two seasons. They will start next campaign with a 30-point deficit.

Fiorentina will start in Serie B with a 12-point deficit and Lazio a seven-point deficit.

The rulings mean that none of the four clubs will be allowed to play in Europe next season.

In addition to the punishments handed to the clubs, a number of the individual directors were suspended.

Former Juventus general manager Luciano Moggi has been suspended from all football for five years.

Adriano Galliani, who was AC Milan vice-president, has been suspended for one year.

The four clubs will have up to three days to appeal to the Federal Court but a final verdict has to be announced before July 25, when the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) must give UEFA, Europe's football governing body, the list of teams that will compete in the continental club competitions in the 2006/07 campaign.

I SERIOUSLY HOPE THEY APPEAL!

In light of the sentence decreed by the Commissione d’Appello Federale, which has proposed the demotion of Juventus to Serie B with the deduction of 30 points, Chairman Giovanni Cobolli Gigli has made the following statement: "It is unheard-of. We expected a balanced sentence from a court comprised of jurists of such esteem, both in its form and its content. Evidently our expectations were misplaced. The sentences signal a desire to attack the companies with excessive severity. We do not understand the differential legal treatment applied to the four cases under consideration. As the facts have clearly demonstrated, the episodes relating to Juventus under the observation of the sporting tribunal are without question comparable to those with which the other teams are charged. The difference being that in our case only two matches have been called into question. Therefore in this moment our priority is to look after the interests of our fans and those of the minor share holders, and we will do this straight away, appealing to the Consiglio Federale"

Yes for last season Inter will get it, BUT for the 2 seasons before that... AC may get 1 (seeing as they getting off so light compared to the others.)
Fishfly
yeah but IMHO they've killed a 4 great teams... wtf? I'd really like to see the Italian team at Euro 2008 sad.gif

but IMHO the people (MOGGIE YOU BASTARD) should be castrated and FINED like 2million euro and the Refs in question should be fired - leave the teams outta this!!!

It's not the players that matched fixed it's not the fans that asked the players to match fix... so wtf?
