First swashbuckling Indiana Jones reveals he is back for another adventure at the ripe old age of 64.

And now Gung-ho Vietnam veteran Rambo is ready to rampage his way on to movie screens again — nearly 20 years after hanging up his headband and machine gun.

Movie tough guy Sylvester Stallone has finally confirmed he will resurrect the role at 58-years-old after months of speculation.

Stallone last played Rambo in 1988 but has revealed he has signed up for a fourth film.

The actor revealed: I've signed the deal and I have the old headband, machine gun and bow and arrow ready to go.

"I am looking forward to showing movie fans the real action hero again."

The Rambo trilogy — which began with First Blood — made millions for Stallone in the 1980s.

And the Sun says there could be even more if the fourth instalment is a hit.

A film company spokesperson said:: "If Rambo 4 works then you could have number five."

Veteran actor Harrison Ford recently announced plans to play Indiana Jones again, 16 years after he last played the archaeologist-turned-adventurer.

Sylvester Stallone will reprise his role, in which the story will have Rambo living in peace with his family for 15 years but still working for the military. His family is then attacked by white supremacists, to which he must seek out to rescue his 10-year-old daughter.

These guys (except hoff) were our heroes...Rambo the guy who did homeeconomics so that he could use needle and thread to patch himself up, Arnie the eternal machine who proved that you could walk naked in downtown L.A. and not get thrown in jail by the cops or subsequently raped by bikers in leather at a local YMCA joint.
So who is going to fill their shoes? Vin diesel? Ice cube? Matt Damon?

According to The Unofficial Rambo IV Homepage, veteran actor Charles Napier will be returning as Marshall Murdock – from 1985’s “Rambo: First Blood Part II” – for the upcoming, “Rambo IV”.

You’ll recall that Murdock was the fraudulent American official in charge of the operation (in “Part II”) that ordered that Rambo be abandoned, and all documentation of POWs be destroyed. Assumingly, he’ll be back to butt heads with captain bandana once again.

Aside from Sylvester Stallone, Murdock will be the only returning cast member from any of the earlier films. Richard Crenna, who played Colonel Trautman in the first three films, passed away quite some time ago – otherwise, he would unquestionably have been written into the film.

Napier’s other notable credits include “Austin Powers : The Spy Who Shagged Me”, “Philadelphia”, “Silence of the Lambs” and “Annapolis”. His next film is “BgFATLdy”, a comedy with Meredith Monroe.

Reigning comeback champ Sylvester Stallone confirmed to Entertainment Weekly that the long-gestating “Rambo IV” will finally be before the cameras come October 1. Interestingly enough, the sequel – which will lens in Thailand – is yet to find a domicile, but considering that “Rocky Balboa” went through the same battle, before ultimately finding a home with MGM, we think it’s safe to say it’ll have a distributor by the time Rambo fires his first rocket launcher.

Stallone admits that it was hard coming up with a plot for the new film. “You know, it’s hard”, Sly tells the magazine. “Politics have changed so much. Why do we fight? The Finns? You can’t do that. The Dutch? That’s not gonna work. Wooden shoes are not gonna look cool [Laughs]”.

Ultimately, Sly called up “Soldier of Fortune magazine, and said, ‘What is the most critical man-doing-inhumanity-to-man situation right now in the world? Where is it?”.

The answer was Burma.

Stallone says he and Art Manterastelli (“The Hunted”) wrote the first draft of the script. In the pic, Rambo is living in a monastic lifestyle in Bangkok and salvaging old PT boats and tanks for scrap metal. (“It’s like he’s stripping himself down”, says the actor. “That old piece of military equipment”). When a group of volunteers bringing supplies into Burma disappears, a relative of one of the missing missionaries begs Rambo to find them. He heads off with a team of young guns, a plot point required by the financiers, who wanted to hedge against Rambo’s possible mono-generational appeal.

Funnily enough, that sounds like a different storyline to the one that’s been doing the rounds. Hmmm. I guess, like the weather, there are always changes.

In 2004, rights to produce Rambo IV: In the Serpent's Eye were transferred by the The Weinstein Company to a predecessor of film producer Nu Image, which has the action sequel in active development with Sylvester Stallone to reprise the role of Vietnam vet John Rambo.

But in a suit filed Friday in Los Angeles Superior Court, the Weinsteins claim that Nu Image recently offered distribution rights to Lionsgate, even though The Weinstein Company is supposed to have first right of refusal on the franchise.

The next chapter finds Rambo recruited by a group of Christian human rights missionaries to protect them against pirates, during a humanitarian aid deliver to the persecuted Karen people of Burma. After some of the missionaries are taken prisoner by sadistic Burmese soldiers, Rambo gets a second impossible job: to assemble a team of mercenaries to rescue the surviving relief workers.

Production is tentatively scheduled for January in Thailand.

The “X-Men: The Last Stand” star – don’t hold that against him though, I do think he’s better than that and it was probably the cabbage that enticed him to do that bitch – is said to be in talks to join the cast of the next “Rambo” movie.

The soccer star cum actor tells the Norwegian site VG Nett that he’ll begin work on “Rambo IV: In the Serpent’s Eye” before Christmas. (And yes, I did run the report through an English translator just to confirm that that was what he was telling the site).

Jones, who got his big break in the movies thanks to his mate Guy Ritchie – who cast him in “Lock, Stock & Two Smoking Barrels” and later “Snatch”, joins a cast that includes such names (or ‘no names’) as James Brolin and Kim Dickens.

Also on Jones’s schedule for 2007 is “Carry on London”, the first in a new series of comedies based around the old Sid James’ comedies.

In “Rambo IV”, which Stallone writes, directs and stars in, Vietnam vet John Rambo is forced to emerge from his reclusive lifestyle and take justice into his own hands after his daughter gets kidnapped. As far as I know, Vinnie Jones does not play Sly’s daughter – but giving the look of the father, ya do never know.

British chap Matt Marsden will join Sylvester Stallone for “Rambo IV”, says Variety

The sometime-actor sometime-singer will play a mercenary in the film, says the trade.

Interestingly enough, “Lost” star Matthew Fox was rumoured to be up for the same role about twelve months back. Guess they were aiming a tad too high, there?…. or something.

Seems Stallone – or the studio – has again changed the name of the next “Rambo” movie. You’ll recall that it started off as “Rambo IV : In the Serpent’s Eye”, then a couple of months ago the steroid smuggling box-office superstar announced that the film would be called “Rambo IV : Pearl of the Cobra”. Moviehole received word that Sylvester Stallone has thrown out the name Rambo IV: Pearl of the Cobra for the fourth installment of the franchise:

Not sure if this is common knowledge or not. On the news tonight, when Stallone was being interviewed by Richard Wilkins, he said that the name of the 4th Rambo film is going to be called John Rambo, in keeping with the "Rocky Balboa" thing.

The movie starts shooting on February 23 in Thailand.

A retired rebel soldier from the jungles of eastern Myanmar has been plucked from obscurity to play a brutal Burmese officer opposite Hollywood star Sylvester Stallone in his latest "Rambo" movie.

Reuters reports that Sai Mawng, 40, an ex-guerrilla from the Shan State Army, which has been fighting for independence in the former Burma since 1948, was picked from nearly 300 applicants for the part.

The producers of John Rambo had reportedly been looking for a "Burmese male, 32-40, military-looking man, character face, unlikeable."

In the movie, renegade Vietnam War veteran John Rambo comes out of retirement as a boat repairman in Bangkok to track down missionary aid workers who have disappeared in the jungles of impoverished Myanmar.

The movie is being filmed in a village near the city of Chiang Mai.

The first shots of Sylvester Stallone in John Rambo have surfaced at FlynetOnline. The photos are of Stallone in character filming in Thailand.

I heard about that but still, I haven't seen Rocky Balboa but I've heard it is pretty good / okay and wouldn't it be cool if Stallone can bring Rambo back in 2007 still kicking ass?
