Ola peoples.

Well yes it is the second Golf Major of the year. While I know some of you out there don't enjoy golf, I am sure there are 1 or maybe 2 that don't mind it....

The first round has finished and the leader is someone that is not expected to be at the top. Colin Montgomerie is the current leader. In fact he was the only player the whole day to shoot under par. Now I wonder if he can keep this up and win his FIRST major tournament!! Personally I would prefer someone else to win it, but we shall see what happens.

Tiger Woods is way back after shoot a +6. That equals his worst first round in a major, however he could be doing this on purpose to equal another record. tongue.gif It has only happened twice where a person who shoots a 76 in the first round of the US Open wins the tournament.....

Do any of you have a favorite? I wouldn't mind seeing Ernie or Retief or Tiger or Sergio or the new young SA player Charl Scwhartzel win it. smile.gif

Enjoy it. mf_popcorn1.gif

Eish, check the scores eek.gif

That course is playing tough!

Well Tiger Woods was not able to come to grips with the course after his long stay away from golf, and he has missed the cut. I am kinda sad that he has missed the cut. sad.gif would have been nice to have him there for the last 2 rounds, even if he wasn't going to be at the top. He would have played at least 1 good round. Anyways it will be interesting to see who wins it. I don't want Phil, Colin or Michael C to win it.

I have been thinking about this for a while, and I need to say something.

Maybe I am being uptight, but I dont care. Golf is golf, and should stay that way.
On the first day, the players were lining up to tee off, they called Phill M's name, and the crowd went wild. I mean shouting, screaming, clapping etc etc. Next, came Colin M, and to my absolute amazement, and horror, the crowd booed.
I dont personally like the guy, and there are many players that I dont like, but really, booing at a golf tournament?
It reminds me of the ryder cup a few years ago when the players themselves were extremely rude, jerring the crowd, calling for support and running around like idiots.

Fine, I know the yanks have turned sport ninto a very spectator orientated thing, which it obviously needs to continue professionalism, but a crowd booing is the height of unprofessional behaviour, and IMHO, the PGA should have something to say about it.
Threaten to ban crowds from the tournament if they dont teach the people to be respectful.
It was bad enough watching the Frech open when the crowd would not shut up for the players to play, but now in golf, the ultimate gentlemens game, I think is utterly inexcusable.

I didn't see it, but I would have to agree. Booing is never the right thing to do. I don't care how much a person dislikes another person, you just don't boo them. If you really don't like them, then just don't applaud them when they hit a good shot or whatever.

Anyways, well done to Mr Ogilvy. clap.gif

Yeah, I agree 100% Gitano... it makes things really unfair.

At the french open, I attended the Blake vs. Monfils match, and the French never gave Blake a chance to do anything, he took it really well, but after the match he spoke for about 5 minutes with the umpire.

IMO there is a big difference between home SUPRORT and opposition JEERING, it's very disrespectful.
Gitano
I listened to his conversation with the umpire, he spoke very well, stayed completely calm and just spoke his mind, I thought it was excellent.

Now today Im watching highlights of the last day od the US open, and guess what? Trevor Immelman (SP?) nails his put on the 18th, and the crowd booed as he walked off!! WHAT THE FUCK!

Im seriously thinkinking of writing to the USGA, even though I doubt anyone would give a shit what I thought....
