Fortysomething actress Teri Hatcher is so gorgeous, you'd be forgiven for wondering if she's gone under the knife.

So you can imagine her surprise to read, not that she'd had cosmetic surgery... but just how much she needed it.

Teri, 41, was appalled when she found out that a picture of her face was going to be used as a demonstration of women who needed plastic surgery.

"Forty was an amazing year for me. I got my first beauty campaigns with Clairol and Hydroderm," said the Desperate Housewives and V star.

"So you might understand my surprise when a magazine emailed me, cheerily informing me that they were going to print my photo alongside... recommendations as to the kind of 'work' I needed.

Teri emailed right back:

"What kind of message do you think you are sending to women, when you tell them that a celebrity - Teri Hatcher, a woman who has had a second chance, who has a great year, a great job, won awards, made money, and has a beautiful daughter - that even she needs plastic surgery to be 'better'?

Wow, that's telling 'em, girlfriend.

I am personally very against plastic surgery, especially because it gives people a falls ideas to what "better" or "perfect" is.

Natural people are sexy for being natural, not for being made up mainly of silicone or botox.

Plastic surgery, performed on people that have nothing wrong with them - and are just doing it because they want to look a certain way is what I disagree with.

Ugly people are ugly for being natural, not for being made up mainly of fat and chunks. O_o

Sexy people are sexy because of the way they look; and if fake things help them look better, then so be it.

So... I'm sure you watch your diet, because you want to look a certian way. Shortcuts are cooler.

Secondly, there is a HUGE difference between plastic surgery and healthy living. How can you even make a comparison between the two. That is a reallly screwed up analogy.

No, it's not a screwed up analogy. You are doing them for the same reasons.

Also... do you wear make-up, earrings etc.?

Well clearly, we think differently. I honestly find someone that is not perfect sexier than someone who is the definition of "sexy" - and I in fact know a lot of people that feel that way.

Watching what I eat in no way makes me become a different person, an unnatural person. I have learnt to accept that this is who I am, and always will be. Why would I want to CHANGE that? However, I do want to make the most of what good looks I do have - utilise them. Rather than become fake, and just the definition of what "perfect" is. I want to be ME.

I am against it because it is PERMANENTLY changing who you are and how you look.

Yes, occasionally I will wear make-up. Occasionally, I will wear earrings. (Not every day though - it isn't entirely my thing). BUT, the whole point, like I said before is: eat well, dress well, take care of yourself to enhance what you have. NOT to change what you have.

Personally, I reckon that as soon as you add anything to yourself permanently that's not suppose to be there naturally, then it's not longer just 'enhancing'. Then it becomes tampering. You're tampering with something that ain't broke. Unless of course you've got a third nipple on your forehead, or missing an eyelash or something.
